Panthers Fan Here... - Catalyst - 10-10-2011 04:57 AM I come in peace -- mostly -- to discuss the game next week.Gotta say, I know you guys have to be disappointed with the way your team has played. I know I was expecting them to play much better than they have. The strangest thing is that Matt Ryan seems to have regressed; he doesn't look much better now than his rookie year. I was convinced at the time that he was well on his way to becoming the next Peyton Manning... sorry to say he's looked more like Eli Manning lately. I have to agree with most of you here - you're in need of a major coaching shake-up. It seems both your coordinators need replacing, but the fact remains you still have a ton of weapons on offense and some solid players defensively. In any event, I expect this will be a very close game. We took the Saints right down to the wire and were this close to beating the Packers. All our losses have been by a TD or less and our win was by just 4 points. We seem to like to keep things close and I don't expect this will be any different as I'm sure Ryan, White, Turner, & co. will come out fired up after the Packers let-down. I expect Michael Turner will have a huge game against our weak-ass run defense. We're starting 2 rookie DT's and have lost our two best linebackers (Jon Beason, Thomas Davis) for the season so our front 7 is very thin outside of our DE's, though the DE's are actually really good. Charles Johnson has been worth every penny of that $72 million we gave him. Has 5 sacks so far and consistently applying pressure and also stuffing runs regularly. I expect he'll come out extra-motivated an have a big day as he has said before he plans to bring it extra hard against the Falcons as he feels they disrespected him with a 'lowball' contract offer during free agency. On the other side, Greg Hardy has developed into an outstanding bookend pass rusher with Johnson. Has 3 sacks, a forced fumble, fumble recovery, and a safety so far this season. An absolute steal for a 6th rounder last year. Have to say, judging by some of the posts here I'm very excited about the prospect of Cam Newton playing against your secondary. He's been outstanding so far - better than anyone ever expected this early. He's basically carried this offense on his back and looks like a 2-3 year QB out there rather than a rookie. Our offense is VERY aggressive and as far away from what we used to run with John Fox as you can imagine. We used to run 75% of the time; now we throw about as often as we used to run. Our entire offense is based around getting the ball downfield, attacking the secondary and creating mis-matches. We have two very good TE's in Jeremy Shockey and Greg Olsen and at WR Steve Smith has been re-born with Cam throwing to him and is on pace to have a career year. And of course we still have DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart to contend with. Here's some clips of Cam I put together if anyone wants to get an idea of what our offense likes to do: I feel like our offense can move the ball on your defense, but I fear your run game will gash us like nobody's business and that could lead to a lot of long, time-consuming drives that keep Cam and co. on the sidelines. At any rate, should be a good one as they usually are. Not here to talk smack, just to discuss/debate the game as I do in the week prior to all our games at the other team's message board. Most importantly I hope both teams come out of this game without any major injuries

RE: Panthers Fan Here... - papachaz - 10-10-2011 10:14 AM welcome aboard. good post, we actually LIKE it when fans from other teams come around for a good football DISCUSSION. the one thing in your post that struck me was your comment that Ryan has regress and doesn't look much better than his rookie season. I'll disagree with that as a Falcons fan, i don't think right now he looks as GOOD as he did his rookie season. those first 3 games of ours nearly getting him killed have already taken their toll on his mindset. we saw that even after the first two drives we looked unstoppable, once the heat started getting in, he really really lost his cool. have to admit, IMHO, if we CAN'T eat up the clock and keep our offense on the field and your offense on the sideline, we'll give up more points to y'all than we have all season. i mean look how great we made TJ look in seattle RE: Panthers Fan Here... - mdrake34 - 10-10-2011 10:33 AM Good post. I've been saying it around here for a while, but Cam is the real deal. I'll be crucified for this, but I root for him to do well as long as he's not playing us, I'm an Auburn grad and enjoy seeing his early success. RE: Panthers Fan Here... - caver50 - 10-10-2011 11:05 AM Ryan has took a beatin this year and it does appear to be affecting his mind set, although he had less pressure this game than the previous 4 this year. I wonder if that Sports Psychologist the Braves hired all those years ago for Smoltz is still around the Atlanta area.... RE: Panthers Fan Here... - Chuck Norris - 10-10-2011 03:23 PM Good luck dude (mostly). You have not idea of how jealous I am of Cam.
RE: Panthers Fan Here... - Knight of God - 10-10-2011 08:19 PM I was flamed on the OB for wanting the Panthers to draft Marcell Dareus. I knew full well what Cam was capable of.
