Chants - Jayhawk-Falcon2012 - 10-03-2011 03:34 PM
Just watching the NFL mobile commercial, and they were using the Dree Brees/Saints Miltary chant thing. Yeah for them being saints i hate them, but I will give props that when Brees does the chant it gets me pumped up a lil bit.
Other than "Rise Up" do the falcons ever have anything that cool?
Link for those who don't know what I'm talkin about.
Just thought I'd throw something else into the mix today other than the Seahawks game.

He ripped a lot of that off from others as well as 300 the act in itself is very primal perhaps the equivalent of war cries and it is emotive.
My team, us defensive captains would ask the players at a whisper as we walked the sidelines how they were feeling and each player would whisper back good, progressively we would get louder as the question become directed more at the team in general we would keep getting louder as we converged on the team flag and kept getting louder and more animated till a player would ask who are we and would scream falcons.
Once we were playing in a stadium and we did this in the entrance tunnel, I was the flag bearer for that game and as we screamed falcons I broke from the middle of the pack and led the team to the field. Seeing the game tape it was a mean sight we were in our all black.
Good pre game rituals can have you ready to go to war for your team and bad ones where peoples hearts aren't in it cab leave you flat. I remember one game we git stuck in traffic we were meant to be there 4 hours early. We got there 20 mins before kick off. 1st game of season against national champions we get given 30 mins to get on the field ready for kick off, barely had a warm up, no drills to get you flowing we came out so flat. We were down 35 - 14 at the half. We took that half time and did everything we didn't get a chance to warm ups hype ups we were ready for war we held them to 7 in the next 2 quarters forced turnovers took one back to the house. Our o couldn't get going though and we lost the game but if you could be there you would think we won, we made their house ours. The noise from our team our supporters.
I often wonder what the emotional state of our team is? The question is often posed about lighting fire under ones ass. But you light a fire in a man's heart he will move heaven earth and hell without hesitation. A team mate of ours tore both his acl's in that game they weren't severe but he has never full recovered but he was fierce in his play and didn't come off the field until his legs knees swelled so bad that you could see the distortion.
I know these guys in the NFL it is a career but sometimes I wonder if the pay and mother goodell inhibits that raw passion and grit that players once had.
People bag on leftwich but in college he was a lionheart of a qb. Broken leg, can't drop back and throws his team to a big big victory on top of that how about those o linemen doing all they can to help the man who is giving them and the rest of the team all Gd has left.

see thats what i really wonder. If that's the mentality of our team. Sometimes i wonder if its just a "alright guys lets go....slight cheer" I've seen the passion in Ryan when he's rallying the offense to pull together and I sometimes see it before like a BIG game, but other times I don't feel it like the Saints get from Brees.
Just a thought, especially with how we've been playing this year compared to other years since the Ryan/TD/Smith era.

That Brees chant was based directly on a Marine boot camp cadence call. He spent a period time going through training camp in the summer of 2009 with some Marines and brought that back with him for the Super Bowl season. It can't help but get your blood pumping.
