What is Matt Ryan Really Thinking Right Now? - Scoochie Mouse - 09-25-2011 09:02 PM

I just want to know what he's thinking right now. Unfiltered, about Mike Mularkey and the O-Line. Just this whole situation.

Dude, it'd be awesome to see him just rip Mularkey and the line. At least in game ala Brady or Manning I want to see the fire

Yeah, he will. I hope he bounces back. He's been solid, good even. I don't like to bury guys. I just hope it doesn't happen again. Well it better not.

I can probably give you a pretty solid list:

"Why don't MY coaches trust me on the field?"
"Why is Sam Baker starting at left tackle?"
"Why are we running so many short-bootleg plays, when we have two deep threats on the outside, one in the middle named Harry Douglas, and a hall of fame receiving tight end?"
"Can the defense please make the CRITICAL stops at the very ends of the game and get me the ball back?"

I have put the first in bold because quite honestly, I am really beginning to believe this is our problem. Week in and week out we hear Smith, Mularky, and even Dimitroff tell the fan base how much they trust Matt Ryan with the football. As we see every single week though, they don't show it on the field. Yeah, they are giving him more deep throws, but the defenses are expecting it. That's obvious. When I said at the end of last season it was time to take the choke collar off Matt Ryan, I meant not only with the deep throws but also let him take over HIS offense. It's complete bull-lard.

Since about mid-season last year I've been on the case about why Sam Baker is no NFL starting left tackle. All he has done this year so far in three outings is prove my points without a doubt. Could he start on the interior? Yeah, he probably could. They need to look at their options though. I understand that Baker isn't the only guy to blame, but he's definitely the majority of the problem.

We have Roddy White and Julio Jones on the outside and both are viable deep threats. Yes, despite what the media has to say, Roddy is definitely a guy who can go deep, he's proved it before. Maybe he doesn't have break-away speed, but he can out work defenders and get down field. Then we have Harry Douglas in the slot, and a hall of fame tight end to make the defenses stay honest short. Why aren't we using our receiving core to the advantage of their abilities?
