SI.com Power Rankings (Falcons 12th) - USAF HART - 09-22-2010 03:25 PM Power Rankings two that I read that stood out to me: #3. Houston Texans (2-0) The Texans got the job done at Washington and continue to climb to unaccustomed heights in our power rankings, but there is an ominous development if you're looking for potential pitfalls: Houston is the first team to surrender at least 400 yards passing in its opening two games of the season, and the Texans rank last in the NFL with 411 average passing yards allowed, a 113.4 opposing passer rating, and a 71.6 completion percentage on defense. That should make Tony Romo and the Cowboys -- Houston's opponent this week -- feel a little bit better. --- How much do they miss Dunta Robinson? Giving up 400+ yards in passing is CRAZY! No matter how many games into the season is. When your pass defense gives up an average of 400+ yards a game, something is missing. _______________ #12. Atlanta Falcons (1-1) Don't anyone dare take the Saints over the Falcons as a no-brainer pick in the office pool this week. Atlanta twice played New Orleans very tough last season, and this one is critical for the Falcons' division chances, because the two teams don't meet again until Week 16, in the Georgia Dome. Even with Jerious Norwood lost for the season, the Falcons still have enough depth at running back. But at what point do you start worrying about Michael Turner's inability to stay healthy for longer than a couple weeks at a time? ------- Finally a media buff realizes that the Falcons have played the Saints extremely tough last season. With a win here, it's hard to see where the media puts us as far as contenders in the NFC. Banks does bring up a good point. How much punishment can Michael Turner withstand? Should we go to a 60/40 split between Turner and Snelling? If so, what happens if Snelling gets inujred? There's alot to decide here. ___________________ RE: SI.com Power Rankings (Falcons 12th) - ChrisD - 09-22-2010 03:32 PM If we take down the Saints, I have a feeling the Falcons will be easily in the top 5 in the power rankings. (Just a hunch.) RE: SI.com Power Rankings (Falcons 12th) - TomBradyMVP12 - 09-22-2010 03:39 PM I can dig it. (Just a hunch.) I don't think it would be that high. Maybe 7. The would only drop the Saints down to 3 ![]() Also, for us to goto 5 would really require Pitt and Ariz to score a LOT of points against their next opponents. |
