Not any day under any circumstances. That, to me, is a huge mismatch. Grimes is probably the most athletic guy on the field - but he is not the strongest under any terms - and a big physical receiver like Ward - I just don't get it. Well he couldn't shed a block from Hines Ward probably, but sometimes the role of the player is just to occupy the blocker. I think that would have been the case here. RE: My Brent Grimes Rant - Goal Line D - 09-23-2010 02:17 PM All Grimes haters seem to fall back to "he's too small" argument. Doesn't seem to matter that he's a hair shorter than Owens. Their just mad because of the growing pains he had to go through on the feild IMO. Some enjoy the physical nature Owens brings to the table. The fact he comes and lays wood as some of us say. Some others jsut like grimes, and the fact he has played well and earned it keep. I don't think ethier have shown to be worse or better than the other, people like who they like. What I meant was that due to the early growing pains Grimes had to go through (in real live games) some fans only seem to remember that opposed to his current solid play. Then you take the fact that he is a little bit short, the fact he was undrafted, and the fact that he is from Shippensburg University, and you get a player that people are expecting to fail. It's just that he's not. RE: My Brent Grimes Rant - TomBradyMVP12 - 09-23-2010 03:18 PM Brent Grimes = Pro Bowl. It's wierd. I mean don't we as humans usually root for the underdog to succeed?? RE: My Brent Grimes Rant - BadMoonRising - 09-23-2010 03:23 PM They are both solid corners from last years end, preseason and this year, I would like to see more of Owens since I am not sold on his growing pains being over, 1 year experience at CB is still to raw. But in NO I want Grimes starting, more experience, excellent ball skills. Grimes is not a probowler best I can tell, and neither is Owens. These guys are just solid something we haven't had in a long time. Not to mention that pick by Grimes last season, has to leave Brees with a little hesitation on what he can just sneak in there

But that's just because I have discovered that I am wrong.....a lot. I used to be one of those people that was like "That dude is a midget!!". Honestly though, the guy just won me over with his play. At some point I said to myself. "Damn, it's been like 2 months since this guy gave up a big play, but he's made a whole bunch of spectacular interceptions since then". I used to think Grimes is trash! but then I heard how hard he works and with how well he played I changed my mind very quickly. He's our best corner, IMHO. |
