Wonder if he'll a develop a John Henderson style get me going routine. That would be funny Even if that man asked me to, I wouldn;t slap him. RE: My Brent Grimes Rant - Radical - 09-22-2010 12:35 PM I don't get it either. Dude gets 6 INTs in almost that many starts(7 if not for gay refs), none of them are gimmie INTs like Brian Williams against 49ers last year or Franks' this past game, 2 of them are game enders, and people act like he's 2nd rate. Is a solid tackler? No. He does give full effort and has made tackles, include that bone cruncher he layed in the Arizona game. I don't know why anyone would want the 3rd best cover guy starting just because he can tackle better. That's like putting out your 3rd best WR receiving option over your 2nd, just because he can block better(ahem). Someone who can get 6 INTs in 8 starts, you don't bench. You don't put them at nickel(who needs to be a better tackler anyways) either. Just because the guy had one bad game against Mushin Muhammad 3 years ago, shouldn't have that hanging over him forever. Taking good angles is part of the mix Except he didn't take a bad angle. You should watch the tape again. He ran from the opposite side of the field at a 45 degree angle to Hightower who was running in a straight line & he almost caught him. He had to cover nearly 1.5x the distance that Hightower did in the same time. If he would have changed his angle, he would have had to cover even MORE ground & he would have ended up catching him in the endzone or on the goal line. The run wasn't even on his side for damn sakes. You're peeved at the guy who ran faster & further than anyone else on his team. You sound like you either just didn't pay attention to the play or you're just a Grimes hater. Since he was benched early in the year last year, the guy has done nothing but steadily improve and ball his ass off. Well I won't lie and say that I wasn't really big on Grimes before, but I have seriously warmed up to the guy. My understanding is that starting isn't a major deal on the DL, but is in the LB Corps and Secondary. So far Owens has outplayed Grimes, but as you make it known Grimes plays hard and gives everything. Question is, does Owens DESERVE a starting job. Whoever is the starter just is. I wanna see both guys shine and for me it comes down to win/loss. Those big run plays were not Grimes' fault. We need things to happen on the DL that hasn't. Then I would grab a camera liekt he guy who filmed this. RE: My Brent Grimes Rant - juraitwaluzka - 09-22-2010 01:52 PM Quote:Was disappointed that Grimes could not stop Hightower on his 80 yarder. That play happened because of 2 successful blocks (neither against Grimes) and then DeCoud taking too flat of an angle, after that there was no one left. I know Grimes should've tackled him in the end zone for a safety, sacked the QB, run both a fumble and an interception back for a TD, all of this on the same play then enticed the entire Cardinal offense into committing 11 personal fouls, so yeah we really should cut the guy. He guessed wrong and wasn't in a position to make a play. BUT you also have to look at Peterson getting blown up in the play and Coleman making a bad angle play as well. Ovie had a bad holding call, Baker had a bad holding call, and Keonan had a bad punt all to set up the Stealers in the first place, so the ending of the Pitt game was a team effort to screw it up. It wasn't DeCoud though. He was being held by Ward on that play. I've slow-motion played that over and over. It was not DeCoud, that much I am positive of. I do know that Trey Lewis was laying on the ground - Grimes was having a linebacker shoved into his face and overall - our defense was pretty exhausted at that point - first game of the year and they had that big Pitt offense running it straight at the gut all day. |
