Why in the HELL did the Falcons acquire this guy? Good grief!
Yeah it was only a second round pick and it seems lately the Falcons are NOT the Patriots South, giving up picks to move up, trade, whatever. So you yankee bastards can kiss my ass about all that bs.
Tony Gonzales is washed, was washed and is washed UP! He was washed up when the Falcons traded for his vegetarian ass. And this is what gets me about idiot NFL fans. Three years ago I said T.O. was washed up. Two years ago I said Moss was washed up. Last year I said Steve Smith IS washed up and guess what? They all be washed up. And O-coordinators continue to feature these ballerinas in tights.
This is where I'm going. In last night's game there were two occasions that Ryan forced the pass to Gonzales and one of them was nearly picked off. The past two seasons Tony has been great but sometimes Ryan forces the issue, whether it be called or Ryan being stubborn when Tony is well covered. Might be the case Ryan has no choice given the play called by Mularkey. We can always blame Mularkey ya know.
Logjam,...bottleneck,...whatever you wanna call it. After trading away two drafts for a WR, where is there room for an old vegan who can't block and looks like he's running in sand?
As long as Ryan is forcing passes in the direction of Gonzales, there will be no offensive success. The TE is to shock the defense catching passes after the WRs have been doing they stuff. I would go into detail but if you don't know, you never will.

From the OP it looks like you didn't watch the game past the first series. Or maybe you zoned out except on the maybe two throws that went to TG. Cause you missed six good throws by Ryan to people OTHER than TG that netted us a couple of TDs, meaning the offense was clicking pretty well.
For a first pre-season game it went pretty well with the starters in there.

So maybe they should've cut Gonzales and kept JA98 to play his original position.
RE: bottleneck - Penumbra - 08-13-2011 10:45 PM
and maybe you haven't noticed the last two seasons Ryan has been forcing it to Gonzales.
Gonzales is washed up. imo. #81 is the future at TE, watch and see.

Right,...trade a pick away and then cut the guy. Makes perfect sense.

Didnt he make the probowl. He also had to be top two on our team in receptions.

Oh wait, my bad, I didn't realize you were being serious, cause I certainly wasn't.

It's tough to see a player apprarently in his prime, to the normal NFL fan, and then see he's washed up. And it's tougher to say so, that he's washed up. In the past some of us have caught pure Hell for suggesting a guy is washed up.
When Jerry Rice went to the Raiders, he was washed. And some people caught Hell for that sentiment. The Falcons have signed many players washed up at the time,...Eric Dickerson, Mike Rozier, Tim McKyer, Peerless Price,...we could go on and on.
There was one man I was wrong about. We gave away a 1st round pick for Abe. Abraham has been a delight.
