James H , mod on the oMB - pencilpusher - 09-21-2010 08:24 PM Peyton hit a nerve on that dude. http://life.atlantafalcons.com/topic/3900783-forums-crashes-and-ads-oh-my/page__view__findpost__p__5745923 "However, you should expect a cease and desist notice from the NFL if you continue to use the Falcons trademarks on your site. Even I can't use our logo anywhere I want, and I'm employed by the Falcons. " RE: James H , mod on the oMB - TomBradyMVP12 - 09-21-2010 08:26 PM "Peyton hit a nerve on that dude." Peyton is pretty good at doing that. RE: James H , mod on the oMB - Superfan - 09-21-2010 08:30 PM Technically James is right. There are trademark issues involved when you go using a logo without permission. I had to get special permission from the Branch to market prints of my cartoons even though I own the rights to all of my work by contract. For what it's worth and if it matters, the old logo is no longer trademarked. Not to toot my own horn, but: He (Peyton) has a bona fide award-winning illustrator as a moderator and a ground floor member. If we do get the cease and desist letter from the NFL I think we'll be able to cook up a pleasing alternative to the Falcon logo. RE: James H , mod on the oMB - ChrisD - 09-21-2010 08:33 PM I wouldn't worry about the whole "Cease and desist" thing. I race on Nascar Racing 2003 Season and people get that all the time for painting up cars with sponsor logos and Nascar logos. Basically it's just a "take down our logos" thing. At that point, you just take them down and continue with the message board. I don't think the Falcons organization would do that to a fan. A fan using the logos to promote a message board/fan get together is totally different than a current employee using it for their own use. Basically, ignore it until it happens. Even then, most of the time for a "Cease and desist" to take place, you need to be making revenue. As long as member donations go towards the message boards and not your own pocket, everything is a-ok! RE: James H , mod on the oMB - Peyton - 09-21-2010 08:36 PM Yeah I think my relationship with James is a little bit on the rocks. RE: James H , mod on the oMB - Russdogg - 09-21-2010 08:38 PM anytime there is something good going on, the haters will follow... such BS. RE: James H , mod on the oMB - kibitzer - 09-21-2010 08:40 PM James H: "I hate ya'll." That is all. Maybe not... seriously, I don't get it. I think we should all just quit stirring the shit pot over there. I had "mulit-quoted" a few things I wanted to reply to in "that" thread, you know the one. But I was at work, and quoted too many, so just decided to let it go. Was kind of weird... this nice peace came over me after I did that. |
