Roman Harper - 4 years 28 mil - Peyton - 07-30-2011 12:30 AM

Holy Moly, did the Saints just make Harper close to the highest paid SS of all time or what?

I mean...wow.....I am feeeling really great about what TD is accomplishing this week with some of the other contracts I am seeing.

Roman Harper is pretty average.

Wow, these contracts are brutal, especially with caps again.

Average? I assure you that Harper is anything but average. He is one of the best SS's in the league. He was extremely high on my list of FA's that I was hoping the Saints could keep.

I hope he is because he is near the highest paid SS in the league.

I admit I don't watch the Saints that closely. I haven't seen a SS ever have a worse game than he had against Seattle though.

He is a monster in the box. If he has any weakness it is covering downfield. Hasselbeck was incredible that game and threw it tons. He may be the best SS in Saints history before it is all said and done. At this point I would only put Sammy Knight ahead of him and I have seen them all.

was it the Seattle game he got picked up and literally thrown aside?

EDIT: my bad, that wasn't harper, he'd been blocked out of that play at the LOS

No, that was Jenkins, I think. He was back-peddling and was shoved aside. Bad positioning. He couldn't plant his feet to even attempt a play.

The rest of the NFC South is just throwing their money away. Expect a lot of cap casualties the next couple years. I'm really happy how frugal TD has been with contracts.

no it was Porter, and he clearly was trying to run Lynch down, not backpeddling and yes he, like the other 7 saints who couldn't tackle ML on that play WAS ATTEMPTING to make a play

but hey i admit i was wrong, it wasn't harper, he didn't even get involved in the play until making that feeble diving attempt at a tackle at about the 2 yard line
