Bush has fracture fibula.... ou 4-6 weeks - Sun Tzu 7 - 09-21-2010 09:36 AM Didn't see this posted -------- SAN FRANCISCO -- New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush has a fractured fibula in his right leg, sources tell ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. The injury is not expected to end Bush's season, sources said, indicating he could return in four to six weeks. More tests were scheduled for Tuesday. Bush had to leave Monday night's 25-22 victory over San Francisco in the fourth quarter. Bush, who said he would likely get X-rays after the team returned to New Orleans, had an ice bag wrapped around his right leg in the locker room and was using crutches to get around. "I'm just trying not to think the worst and just try to stay as positive as I can in this situation," Bush said. "That's all you can do, hope for the best." A source close to Bush told ESPN's Colleen Dominguez that the running back could miss six weeks. Bush hurt himself after recovering his muffed punt with 6:58 remaining. He had trouble catching the ball at windy Candlestick Park and was hurt diving to cover up the loose ball. "Last second it kind of shifted a little bit, just enough for me to drop it," he said. "I tried to recover it and somebody took my leg out. I don't know who it was, what happened or how it happened. I just know my leg got taken out. That's it." He was tended to by trainers and then tried to walk off the field favoring his right leg. He fell back to the turf and was worked on again before being helped off the field. "It hurt like hell," he said. "When I got back up and tried to walk on it, it felt terrible. That's all I can say." Bush was taken on a cart to the locker room shortly after the injury, getting hugs from his teammates. Owner Tom Benson came up to Bush in the locker room to offer words of encouragement as well. The injury capped a difficult past few days for Bush, who gave back his Heisman Trophy last Tuesday. The NCAA punished USC after concluding that Bush and his family took money and gifts from sports agents while Bush played for the Trojans. Bush said he returned the award to end the controversy. "It's been a pretty tough week," he said. "It's just the way life goes." There were some highlights for Bush in his first game since giving back the trophy. He caught a 6-yard touchdown pass on New Orleans' opening drive and set up a field goal with a 43-yard punt return on the final play of the third quarter. Bush finished with 4 yards on five carries. He also had 30 yards on four receptions. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5598337 RE: Bush has fracture fibula.... ou 4-6 weeks - Peyton - 09-21-2010 09:37 AM We all know how that 4-6 weeks stuff goes. He could be done for the year. RE: Bush has fracture fibula.... ou 4-6 weeks - Jesus - 09-21-2010 09:37 AM They're going to miss his 34 total yards for the next 4-6 weeks. I think they will miss him a bit. On that team, each player has certain things they do well and certain plays that are designed to fit just that player. So this takes a few plays out of the playbook for the Saints. RE: Bush has fracture fibula.... ou 4-6 weeks - RFlagg - 09-21-2010 09:43 AM Bush's biggest job is as a decoy. He requires attention with every play he's on the field. Also, this means Thomas will probably get less rest during games as the Saints are so slim at RB. RE: Bush has fracture fibula.... ou 4-6 weeks - Stankfoot - 09-21-2010 09:48 AM On a side note, I was disgusted with the commentary last night from the crew when they were discussing the whole Heisman fiasco. They are making Reggie out to be a victim, undeserving of all the negative attention. Excuse me?!? The man threw the entire program under the bus, knowing full well what he was doing was against NCAA rules and could hurt the program. And never once have I heard him apologize for it, it's always words like "disappointing", etc. A two-year postseason ban, the loss of football scholarships and the vacating of wins in the 2004-05 championship season, all because of his actions and they act like HE is the victim. Give me a freaking break. Or maybe Karma gave him a break. RE: Bush has fracture fibula.... ou 4-6 weeks - TAZZ77 - 09-21-2010 09:51 AM Bush was opening things up with the screen weither they went to it or not he had to be accounted for. I will be glad we wont have to worry about that part of the Saints O. RE: Bush has fracture fibula.... ou 4-6 weeks - Tandy - 09-21-2010 09:53 AM I feel kinda bad.
