Who is our best position coach? - Polar Bear Jones - 05-04-2011 02:45 PM The people I thought about first when the Julio trade went down was Matt Ryan and oddly enough Terry Robiskie. The guy is getting some grade A talent to mold into shape. The kid is talented and coachable if this works out he could boost an already impressive resume. That made me wonder who was the favorite of the falcon position coaches as seen by falcon nation. For me while I like Robiskie, I have to go with Paul Boudreau seems to be getting the most out of his players. I may be a little biased towards the trenches but this team seems to be less technically sound as they were during the Gibbs days but give more effort and are much nastier. Who do you guys like? RE: Who is our best position coach? - FullMetalFalcon23 - 05-04-2011 02:56 PM PB, not an attempt to hijack your thread here, nor is it a conspiracy theory. However does anyone else think that the choice to go after Bratkowski as QB Coach, who came from a team whose QB was pretty strong armed before injury and who offensively used to be able to put the ball about on deep throws, was something that occurred in preparation for the arrival of a player or players such as Jones? This was just a thought that crossed my mind based on thinking about who our position coaches are. To answer your question though, I feel as though without Musgrave and the work he put in with Matt, I must go with the same choice as yourself, closely followed by our DB coach RE: Who is our best position coach? - DemBirds - 05-04-2011 03:24 PM Paul Boudreau gets my vote. Not to say Terri Robiski or Ray Hamilton aren't among the best at their jobs in the league but Boudreau took 2 undrafted free agents in Dahl and Clabo and made them top 10 players at their positions. Made Clabo a pro bowler. Robiski is probably my favorite though based on his style and personality. I think it's a testament to the coaching staff we have in Atlanta. It's one of the best all around staffs in the league. If he can help Matt become more aggressive without becoming reckless like Palmer that could be a plus. I also think that confidence in his receivers will also lead to more aggressive play. He and Julio need to get on the same page fast. He and HD did not seem to be clicking last season. I've been thinking the same thing. Get Ryan on the EXACT same page as the receivers. Make him think as one. RE: Who is our best position coach? - Snelling44 - 05-04-2011 04:15 PM It seems as though every time we draft a defensive lineman I hear "ahh don't worry we have the best DL coach in the league!" yet we never see the results. Sidbury hasn't turned out to be the pass-rushing monster everyone predicted Ray Hamilton would turn him into. I'm not saying he never will be but if our DL coach is so great you would think we'd have some dominant young players on the DL, but we don't. If I we're to pick I'd go with either Robiskie or Boudreau. RE: Who is our best position coach? - JOEinPHX - 05-04-2011 04:21 PM Nobody on the staff has done more with less than Boo. He gets a big assist from Paul Dunn. On the flip side, it could be that no one's done less with more than Hamilton, but he has operated under some severe handicaps. And if I were Chris Scelfo or Glenn Pires, I might be upset at being listed as 'other'. The timing doesn't jibe, the Brat decision was made long before the Julio strategy was conceived. The proximate cause was a long-time friendship between MM and Brat. The proximate cause was a long-time friendship between MM and Brat. fair play, I just wondered if either had a bearing on the other. Being reasonable it would seem like a long shot. Although it does not seem like such a hail mary if it was that Brat was consulted on what it is going to take to develop Ryan further and more down field targets was part of the answer, even if Julio was not specifically specified. I seriously believe tha JJ is gonna blossom so well in this offense barring injury (touching wood right now). RE: Who is our best position coach? - Paulitik - 05-04-2011 05:26 PM Boudreau and it's not even close. No one has done more with less. I think if we don't succeed this year by going deep into the playoffs, everyone else's job should be reevaluated. |
