Peter King - atljbo - 04-11-2011 03:52 PM Quote:SI's Peter King predicted that no Collective Bargaining Agreement be reached soon. King expects a lockout injunction, and the football season to proceed without a CBA, meaning 2011 would be another uncapped year. This is why i feel like we have to go grab our DE in the draft. RE: Peter King - Paulitik - 04-11-2011 03:54 PM Yep, I agree. The courts are just going to make the owners do what they should have done in the first place. Continue with the season under 2010 rules and come to turns on the sidelines. RE: Peter King - g-dawg - 04-11-2011 04:48 PM (04-11-2011 03:54 PM)Paulitik Wrote: Yep, I agree. The Libs own the courts up in the Northeast. Courts have already hijacked the "will of the people" in Wisconsin on Teachers Unions/CBAs - no reason to expect that another union will prosper in the Northern Liberal Judiciary up in Minnesota. BUT - this is an area that has historically sided with the players, which is why they chose there to file their lawsuit. I'm more of a mind that history is gonna repeat itself, and we're gonna see the courts favor the players RE: Peter King - markdzul - 04-11-2011 05:10 PM anything to get the season going. i am going to be a greedy fan and not give a shit who gets what money, I just want my football damnit.....

Wisconsin and Minnesota are the Northeast? And Governors acting like sociopaths is the "will of the people"? You'll see the will of the people when the recalls start. So you would like to see us take a lesser-talented player at DE (At #27, where may I remind you, there will likely be very little 1st round DE talent, if at all.) as opposed to taking a player that will be a starter at the #27 pick from day 1 on the team? I'm not sure about that. I'm still wishy-washy on the entire DE thing. Yes, we need a DE, I understand that. But I just don't think that the value is there at the 27th pick in the first round. Maybe if we moved up in the draft, or were sitting where the Bucs were. But 27? Nah. My point being, we don't need to draft a 'project' player with our first round pick. We can get the same value in the 2nd round as we will at #27 in terms of a DE. No DE at #27 will be a starter. So essentially it would be a waste of a pick imo. RE: Peter King - Radical - 04-12-2011 01:18 PM Contrary to popular belief, all the talent in the draft isn't gone at pick #27. I PROMISE you that there will be Pro Bowlers and maybe even future HOFers picked after the 1st round. 10 years of 27th Overall Picks 2010 - Devin McCourty - Patriots - Pro Bowl 2009 - Donald Brown - Colts 2008 - Antoine Cason - Chargers 2007 - Robert Meachem - Saints 2006 - DeAngelo Williams - Carolina - Pro Bowl 2005 - Roddy White - Atlanta - Pro Bowl 2004 - Jason Babin - Texans - Pro Bowl 2003 - Larry Johnson - Chiefs - Pro Bowl 2002 - Mike Rumph - 49ers 2001 - Michael Bennett - Vikings - Pro Bowl The draft will not go as anyone has it on their mock, there are players that aren't in the latest Top 50 or so that will go on to be Pro Bowlers, and chances are you will be wrong about a lot of players you've currently made judgements on. Just throwing that out there... I don't know how it will go here, but every year I've been on the OMB, quite a few "respectable" posters went ape-shit over the draft. Remember when people were sitting around asking who the hell Roddy White was? Remember when Jimmy Williams was a future Pro Bowl CB? Remember when Matt Ryan was Chad Pennington/Joey Harrington/Ryan Leaf 2.0 and Glenn Dorsey was a can't miss Warren Sapp 2.0? Just throwing that out there. |
