I can see all sides of this argument. On one hand, we have Won a LOT of regular season games since Dimitroff got here. Mike Smith was a very good hire. Turning an NFL football team around after a Vick/Petrino debacle is a daunting task for anyone and Dimitroff performed brilliantly.

My only gripes are we seem to really hit or miss badly with our drafts. Some players perform well, some are major disappointments and injury prone. Time will be the jury on this, but our 2010 draft was mediocre at best.

The other thing is not able to win a Playoff game. And especially getting blown out of our house the way we did last year by the Packers. I can take losing, but not that way. It wasnt even competitive and we should have played them much better than we did.

This is one of the best posts in this thread.

We should have and could have played them better. Look at when we played them earlier in the year. We ground them down kept them controlled and we won. The playoffs, I don't think that style of football works so much. Its playing like tomorrow does not exist. The team does not have the plethora of players needed to play that way. Look at the SB Green bay had players going down in that game and someone else would pop up and take over in their place.

This team is only going to get better we haven't been sitting with an open window like how Philly ,the Cowboys or the Chargers were and not got anything done with it. Our window is only really just opening now, 08 was a fairy tale of sort, 09 showed where we had weaknesses that perhaps ran deeper coupled with some misfortune 10 well this was us saying we're here. From here onwards I will look to see more and more from this team. After the way we played last season its clear we a re good franchise. Now we move on to becoming great.

in fairness, one reason why none of those sacks occurred was because only one player was close to the QB - those type sacks get missed all the time. Most teams have several players pressuring the QB - last few years all we get is one guy close to the QB.

Falcons could have gotten every one of those sacks and still lost that game by 20 points. Falcons are not just missing sacks, they are not disrupting the QB's timing either.

Yep....and this is where a healthy Peria Jerry could be huge for the Falcons. When he was ballin' at Ole Miss that's what he did. He brought tremendous pressure right up the gut and forced the play out to the edges.

Next year will be the make or break for Peria.

I agree with that, but if we didn't whiff on half of those sacks maybe it's a different game. Rodgers has EXCELLENT pocket vision and mobility, he, Brees, Manning and Brady are excellent in shifting in the pocket in to continue the play. It happened to us alot in the loss to the Saints this year too.

I have a question......Where in the HELL was Jonathan Babineaux last year? I know he's a great talent and has been a pro-bowl caliber player in 2008 and 2009. He was one of the best pass rushing D-Tackles in the game in 2008 and 2009.

Jonathan Babineaux was M.I.A. last year in pass rushing dept. What happened to him and why has NOBODY talked about this. He was a non-factor. Was he still tokin'?Confused

He was nowhere near the force he was the previous two years. Which was either a decline in his play or a lack or pressure from the other tackle and end spots allowing him to get pressure. I think a FINALLY (keeping my fingers crossed) healthy Jerry, Peters with a second year under his belt will help. I just really hope Kroy and Sid continue to develop.

What was the description that one scout said of Peria Jerry coming out of Ole Miss?:

"A bundling battle of butcher knives"

.....it was something like thatBig Grin

the only problem with the "he was missing Peria Jerry" comment is the fact that Jonathan Babineaux did not have Peria Jerry in 2008/2009 either (and nobody else was better than Jerry). To be totally accurate, he had Peria for like 3 games in 2009 (before he got hurt).
