did you see the playoff game would you say our secondary played well by any means ?
That was the best QB peaking at the right time. Yes, we were beaten like a drum. We lost our nickle back to injury and put in a kid with little experience and still recovering from injuries.
If you want an instant champion, you will not likely find happiness with any GM.

Swift, we were 26th in rushing offense in 2007. In 07 we were the 23rd overall ranked offense & the 28th overall ranked defense. Our coach left mid-season & our QB went to jail. TD & Smitty got hired the season AFTER this. Who gives a crap what happened from 04-06. In 07, we sucked & this franchise completely imploded & was at the bottom of this league.
When TD & Smitty BEGAN, we had no QB, no running game(because the QB who went to jail WAS our running game), our receivers were dropping everything, & our defense was horrible. You can't really come into a worse situation than this.
This is a stupid debate. TD & Smitty came into the worst situation imaginable & some how you're trying to say they suck because in 3 years from absolute dogshit to 13-3 isn't good simply because the SB champs who were playing their best stomped us on their way to stomping everybody else who was at the top of the league.
Just go away.

Under TD, it took us 3 seasons to hit that mark.
By definition, that's HUGE improvement.

I didn't say he was bad. He had over 80 catches & 1200 yards. But he had a bad case of the drops still, so did Jenkins. Everyone that I talk to remembers 07 as the season of dropped passes. We were the 18th ranked passing offense in the league.
The point was, Roddy & Babs were not the players then that they are now, & to try & rationalize the Falcons as a team full of talent by mentioning 3 players while going 3-13 is ridiculous & far from true.

Whether it's that Dimitroff first build a foundation and is now going to look for explosiveness (what I think) or, it's as you assert, and he saw that his solid team wasn't good enough and he might have to slightly change philosophy to go toward more explosive guys...wouldn't it be good either way?
Either he's exactly on plan, OR he's adapting as he goes, while managing to win. Either way, that's good.
They've dedicated a lot of resources to the lines, and we needed that.
I will say, I think there's probably a little struggle between the coaches and Dimitroff, as he wants a bit more explosion and they're a bit more conservative...but I think he'll supply the explosive players this year, and if Mularkey can't utilize them, they'll reshuffle.
Also, when he brought in Tony G, Ryan was coming off a 8ypa rookie season, and Roddy had good YPC numbers, and HD was developing...they thought they needed a possession guy in the middle. How would he have known that all of a sudden Roddy wouldn't get the deep balls and HD would get hurt? I still don't know why they only throw deep 1/2 as often. That seems a bit like coaching.
