Tyson Clabo: I want to be a Falcon, but I'm not a priority! - Sporkdevil - 02-19-2011 08:51 PM

WTF Dimitroff?

I have no link, but apparently Clabo was on Sirius today. He said he wanted to be a Falcon, but they aren't considered him as a priority.

Gotta assume Dimitroff either loves Reynolds, or... I dunno, maybe they don't love Clabo?

I think it's bullshit. Been years since we had a pro bowl offensive lineman (Forney, I believe) and we are going to let him walk? Bullshit.

This is the Sirius host's twitter:

LateHits Late Hits with B-Mac
RT-Tyson Clabo said today @SiriusNFLRadio w/ @bmacsports & @15miller that he wants to be back with the #Falcons but it's not their priority.

You can bet that TD and Co. have done their homework. It is possible that a team like Dallas is planning to dump a big bag of money in Clabo's lap. You can also be that TD will use the Belichick method of letting players walk, if the price it too high.

The Falcons will give Clabo a solid offer, but they will not break the bank to keep him. In all honesty, we can draft a reasonable replacement for him in the second round of this draft. That is, if we don't keep Clabo.

Interesting.

I kind of read that as a selfish comment from Clabo. I mean you could see it as they've had talks and Blank and Dimitroff have expressed interest in retaining Clabo but want to make sure other positions are taken care of first (Grimes). Or you could look at it the way I am, and see it as both parties have met and discussed a possible extension. The talks were held and numbers were thrown around and it wasn't enough to satisfy Clabo or his Agent.

I dunno. Very few players are getting contracts before the CBA, so perhaps that is where this is stemming from.

bingo.....

.....this thread is really overblown. Dimitroff/Smith chose not to franchise Clabo which just means they don't consider him to be worth "top 5" left tackle money - and I agree w/ that. The reason I say "left tackle" is because the franchise tag is used for top 5 offensive lineman and highest paid o-lineman are usually left tackles.

Clabo is probably just frustrated that he does not have a contract offer and/or was not franchised and he's just venting his frustration from being in limbo right now. It's understandable but I think there is nothing to see here...

Ive been saying it.... Its a chance Clabo can walk.... TD has been looking at a lot of Tackles in this years draft (top 3 rounds) ...

The thing is TD has a payer pay slot that he wont go over ... If his paying slot for RT might be 5 mill a year \ but if Clabo agent is looking for 6-7 million... He is not going there.

Or we could use the money we would pay Clabo and grab a FA DE with it.

I mean... idk whats going on.. But i do think even tho Clabo is good...Iwould love to have him back but... We can find another RT if we need too.

I really interested to see how Valdez look this offseason.... He may be that next UDFA player that turns into a good player for us

Not LT's, but there will be RT's. There always are RT's. Gilbert, Ziemba, and Cannon are just a few names that come to mind for the second round. Additionally, we have Reynolds and Svitek as backups that might be able to step up.

I am not against signing Clabo. I am just pointing out that TD has been trained by the best personnel department in the league. If Jerry Jones goes hog wild over Clabo, he will be wearing blue and we will move on.
