It's a sad day - USAF HART - 01-29-2011 12:07 AM So today started off as any other day. I got up, got ready and went to work. Excited about what crazy/funny/off the wall stuff that we love to discuss here, I was eager to sign in from work and join in the conversations. I clicked on the favorites tab and went to load AFT. To my EXTREME displeasure, I have been blocked from visiting this website while at work So now, to get my Falcons fix while at work, I have to travel to the dark side. I will only be able to communicate with my fellow AFT members for the few short hours I am awake after work, or on my days off. It is a sad day for me indeed. I will miss you guys on my shifts ![]() DISCLAIMER: This does not mean that I will not be watching when I get home so don't go all haywire thinking I won't see stuff because I will. haha
RE: It's a sad day - Jayhawk-Falcon2012 - 01-29-2011 12:20 AM why not use your cell phone??? Or even by pass the blocking by your company? RE: It's a sad day - Jesus - 01-29-2011 12:26 AM Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! I'm in Iraq lol. my cell phone would not work here. It's a government network and I have tried every imaginable proxy server out there, but they do a pretty good job at blocking them. RE: It's a sad day - Jayhawk-Falcon2012 - 01-29-2011 12:44 AM Ohhh, sorry didn't know you were in Iraq. My bad. Yeah never mind, haha I guess we'll just have to see you early or late = ) RE: It's a sad day - HolyDuckett! - 01-29-2011 12:48 AM (01-29-2011 12:34 AM)USAF HART Wrote: I'm in Iraq lol. my cell phone would not work here. Actually, seems like things must be getting a helluva lot better in Iraq if losing access to a football website is a "sad day." I figured getting your ass shot off would be a "sad day" . . . and any day in which your ass was still attached when it hit the cot was NOT a "sad day" at all . . . even if you DID lose access to your favorite football website. Are you still active duty or is your "job" private sector? Either way, thanks for fighting the good fight. RE: It's a sad day - USAF HART - 01-29-2011 01:00 AM (01-29-2011 12:48 AM)HolyDuckett! Iraq has shifted it's war fighting to heart warming now. They are basically in the "re-building" Iraq phase. More humanitarian stuff goes on than fighting around where I am at. I am lucky if we get a mortar once a week now. When I first got here, it was during Ramadan, which is a big thing for them. They don't eat or drink anything from sun up to sun down, so all they had time for was praying and bombing. We were being mortared anywhere from 6 to roughly 9 times a day. Now it has been basically killed off, and we get mortared maybe once a week if that. My life has NEVER been in danger while i've been here. The mortars have been so far off it makes me laugh. Although I will say that I miss hearing the alarms go off for an incoming attack. It makes me remember why I am out here, and no one has been killed from a mortar attack yet. As far as my job goes, I am still active. However, the job I have been assigned to while here for 6-7 months is to sit behind a desk and add/modify VOIP(Voice Over IP) Phones. It's the stupidest thing in the world. We get like MAYBE one or two tickets a night to fix a few phones, and we spend the rest of the night watching television. I spent a large majority of my time, BSing with you guys on here. It's just a very boring atmosphere out here. I went to Army Combat Skills Training to learn how to clear houses, drive all the different military vehicles, and all these other special tactics. Only to come here to Iraq, and get thrown behind a damn desk. I feel like I wasted almost two months of doing that training because they threw me behind a desk. That was two months away from my 7 month old son that I would love to have had. But anywho...I only have roughly 40 days left here. I can't wait to get home. Drink some beers, eat some good ol' country fried foods Thanks for the support Duckett. I appreciate it.

Fucking sucks RE: It's a sad day - HolyDuckett! - 01-29-2011 01:18 AM (01-29-2011 01:00 AM)USAF HART Wrote: Iraq has shifted it's war fighting to heart warming now. Well, in my own way I'll pray that your training is wasted for another 40 days, the mortars are laughingly off target, and you are bored off your ass instead of getting it blown off. I'm sure your boy will be very happy if that's the case. RE: It's a sad day - Radical - 01-29-2011 01:19 AM I'm sure that ever since wikileaks got big, Uncle Sam has been all serious bidness with keeping a tight leash on who accesses what and where on the Interwebs. |
