I was awakened at 5 AM by the phone and told to get from Birmingham to Columbus as quickly as possible. After being at the doctor all day yesterday and finally getting a diagnosis, dad was in the kitchen last night and collapsed. He was rushed to the hospital and his blood pressure and heart rate kept dropping. He had a seizure about 4:30 in the morning and was rushed into emergency surgery to put a temporary pacemaker in to control his heart, but he passed away on the operating table. We're devastated. He loved the Falcons and Auburn football. I miss him.
Just wanted to let you guys know. Even more so than my post last night, things like this put a silly football game into serious perspective.

So sorry to hear this. Special prayer out to you and your family. Hope he enjoyed the Falcons season and know he enjoyed the Tigers season.

mdrake, prayers are out to you and your family - I am so sorry........one rather insignificant thing but is still pretty cool is your father - as an Auburn fan - got to experience the joy with you of winning a National Championship.....but I digress.

I lost my Uncle last Friday. The biggest falcon i knew. The man that thought me everything i know about(coached me better than my coaches) football. The man that sat in the stands with me at Fulton county stadium teaching me how to be a fan.

wow Drake, so sorry to hear the news. you and your family will certainly be in my prayers. Chin up my friend, he's not hurting anymore. that's the way i looked at it when my dad passed on two years ago. it helps to know he's not suffering any more and is in a better place
