So how is everyone doing? - Jesus - 01-19-2011 08:23 PM

I got actually physically sick Saturday night. Felt double miserable Sunday. Now I'm alright.

Same here.

My wife asks me every day when she gets home from work "How are you doing with the Falcons?"

Tonight was the first night I could honestly tell her that I was over it.

It's the sudden way and ugly way it ended that is hard to take. I mean at 8:30 on Saturday night we were 13-3, NFC South Champions with a Dome full of rocking, flag-waving excited fans.

3 hours later it was all over and seemed to have erased all of the good things listed above.

I have no idea what the shit we are as a team now.

I could not sleep Saturday night nor Sunday night. Weirdest thing in the world. I kept having weird Falcon dreams. All is good now, but man that sucked.

It was just a football game. Found out today that my father has a rare blood disorder/low-grade form of bone marrow cancer called Amyloidosis after thinking for over a month that he had stomach cancer. It's treatable, though not curable, but he should be fine with treatment.

So . . . the game was just a game to me. It sucked but it's been put in perspective for me along with other things.

Shit man, I thought I was the only one....

When I finally got to sleep Saturday night I dreamed I was in a bar. Mike Smith came in and sat on a stool next to me at the bar. He was smiling and happy. He ordered a drink and said "hey" to me.

I was mad that he was so happy. I finally asked him, "Why are you so happy? Aren't you embarrassed about the team?"

Smitty picked up his drink from the bar and started to walk away. He stopped and faced me first and said "It doesn't really matter what you or any other Falcon fan thinks. I just talked to Arthur Blank and we're moving the team to Nashville. We're going to be called the Whalers and our colors will be brown and yellow."

What the hell?

Sorry to hear that drake.....but happy to hear that your pop's illness is treatable. I hope he recovers completely and soon.

I appreciate it. I'm just ready for him to get some relief, he's had awful stomach problems for the past year.

Considering I had more invested in this team emotionally than most, I'm still fucked up over it. Today is the first day I have even been able to come back to the boards, and I still can't bear to really participate or look through all the threads like I usually would. It's all bad....

It's hard to forget that sports are just an escape from the rigors of life. Even when things are bad in our sports life, it really doesn't matter. Best to you dad.
