There are 2 Ways to Remember this Season - Peyton - 01-16-2011 02:01 PM 1. This team won the number 1 seed and was the best team in the NFC, but players and coaches choked on it big time in the playoffs. The season is a miserable failure. 2. This team was never as talented as their record would indicate and overachieved all season. They were beaten in the playoffs by a better team in a game where things snowballed after a couple of uncharacteristic mistakes. This season is still a phenomenal success because there were even more talented teams that didn't even make the playoffs. Considering where this team was in 2007, I am surprised at how negative so many are bieng, but whatever. I am going to choose to go with number 2 because this team overachieved all year and I never thought this team had as much talent as most of the teams they were playing. The Falcons are going to continue to build, but I wouldn't look for another 13-3 season next year. Everything went right for the Falcons this year until last night. RE: There are 2 Ways to Remember this Season - The Falcon Jedi - 01-16-2011 02:15 PM Number 2 is about right. I really dont think we were as good our record. We got really lucky to win a few of those games. RE: There are 2 Ways to Remember this Season - papachaz - 01-16-2011 02:35 PM i'm also going with option 2. we had some things go our way a lot of games this year, and played above our heads a few times, but thats the way the season goes. we got some breaks, and had some go against us (punt off the leg of decoud), but we were lucky a lot. it made the season a lot more fun, that's for sure. hope we pick up some of the much needed pieces in the offseason, and make it even better next year RE: There are 2 Ways to Remember this Season - Peyton - 01-16-2011 02:38 PM (01-16-2011 02:35 PM)chazmataz Wrote: i'm also going with option 2. we had some things go our way a lot of games this year, and played above our heads a few times, but thats the way the season goes. we got some breaks, and had some go against us (punt off the leg of decoud), but we were lucky a lot. it made the season a lot more fun, that's for sure. I think it is likely that the team will be better next year but that the record might not be quite as good. The Falcons could be a better team next year and go 10-6. I'd actually take 10-6 right now to tell the truth. RE: There are 2 Ways to Remember this Season - Swift Is a Die Hard - 01-16-2011 02:40 PM I look at this season as a wasted season where now some cracks are set in what appeared to be a stable foundation we can now face this adversity and or we can fold and be the same ole Falcons ..The high hopes we had coming off the 08 season and the process now has been stunted and now going forward we will see what this team ,coach, and QB are made of RE: There are 2 Ways to Remember this Season - mdrake34 - 01-16-2011 02:43 PM (01-16-2011 02:40 PM)Swift Is a Die Hard Wrote: I look at this season as a wasted season where now some cracks are set in what appeared to be a stable foundation we can now face this adversity and or we can fold and be the same ole Falcons ..The high hopes we had coming off the 08 season and the process now has been stunted and now going forward we will see what this team ,coach, and QB are made of Swift, I had no freakin' clue you can see the future. Want to read my palm broseph? We just came off of our third winning season in a row. There is NO indication that we are going to regress heavily. We'll make adjustments and soldier on. Teams don't make the super bowl every single season, you have to fight and scrap your way to the top. We're getting there. RE: There are 2 Ways to Remember this Season - kibitzer - 01-16-2011 02:44 PM Still in number 1 mode right now. I'll get to number 2. That loss was just.... painful. For sooo many reasons, some that have nothing to do w/the team or the game itself, and are just my personal shit. I'm working through it. I know from an objective, logical perspective that 2 is the correct way we should be perceiving the season as a whole. I'm just not there yet.

There will be teams better next year teams like Cowboys, Vikings who have talent just had bad seasons . Saints will be back on top once they get a running back this off season . Im not saying we will go 4-12 but I can see 8-8 next year and missing the playoffs and then I can start seeing some of our fan base and media getting down on Ryan and Smith even more . Its just a trend im no physic but I can see this coming .. The only thing that could hurt this brain trust in my opinion is if they do not realize how much good fortune played into this season. Not just with plays that went the Falcons way late in games or penalty calls or non calls, but also with having an extremely low number of injuries. If they are too proud of themselves for the 13-3 record, they could keep some guys around that probably shouldn't be kept around. But...after last night, I think the likelihood of that happening is greatly reduced. I agree Peyton well put but the reason im hard on the front office I feel the accolades it gets from our fan base while warranted from turning this into a winner (regular season) we just dont have the talent to be a legit playoff contender and while TD and Coach Smith have done a great job getting this ship back in water and moving in the right direction the ship is just filled with spotty patch work and we just put some stop gaps in huge leaks . The lack of play maker at the wr/te position ..we seen it coming I screamed to high heaven for Dez Bryant ...instead we take Weatherspoon a OLB ..First off you dont draft OLB in the first round thats a huge mistake they might be the least BUST risk but the risk reward for a OLB is nothing and the sad thing is the guy Weatherspoon was suppose to replace actually played well in Stephen Nicholoas Giving DUNTA all that money and he is not even in same ball park as a Revis and Nnmadi is mind boggling . oi can go on and on |
