Why did the fans leave? - savannahgazoid - 01-16-2011 12:55 PM That was the saddest part of all. A real fan sticks through to the end. If you are only there for the good parts, then tuck tail and run when your team needs you then you are a BANDWAGON FAN. I couldn't believe the image of the Packers fans having run of the Georgia Dome. As far as I'm concerned they now own the place. Falcons fans ditched their team at their lowest and don't deserve it. Now Green Bay has Lambeau and the Georgia Dome. Sad display and the reason Falcons fans will never be listed among the best or most devoted. RE: Why did the fans leave? - Swift Is a Die Hard - 01-16-2011 12:57 PM I watched the rest of the game but I cant even judge the fans who left ..they paid big money some people traveled to game and spent money in a tough economy they have right to leave after a pathetic performance like that even though we get killed for having a shitty ass fan base i cant judge them after yesterday game RE: Why did the fans leave? - FalconsFanFirst - 01-16-2011 01:02 PM Why? They came to th dome with high hopes of watching a coronation and having a celebration, but instead saw an embarassing ass kicking. While I don't agree with them leaving early, I understand. They were like that relative that doesn't have the time of day when you need something, but if you win the lottery they're suddenly your best friend. Even Saints fans showed up. They may have had bags on their heads but at least they were THERE in support. The Falcons needed their fans and they quit on them as soon as it started getting ugly. I doubt the players had a single show of support or thanks for a great season as they were headed into the locker room. It's all good when you get something from them, but when they need some sign of support they see the Packers fans running wild in the Dome. That was the saddest part of a really sad day IMO. This game is seared into my brain and the image of an abandoned Georgia Dome is what stings the most. RE: Why did the fans leave? - SeaMill - 01-16-2011 01:06 PM Well, we got our asses beat and people didn't care to watch anymore. Its like watching Grandma die for an extra hour when you can make peace and leave the hospital. You know what? We stayed and got it poured on by the Packer fans. The ones who wanted them to keep piling on the points. Yup, those so called "classy" Packer fans. Dont blame folks for not wanting to sit through that. If you were watching on tv its easy to say you would stay. No idea why I did, but I did. Staying while you are heckled and mocked by the other teams fans doesn't make you a better fan either. RE: Why did the fans leave? - Slamee101 - 01-16-2011 01:12 PM Honestly I can't be mad at folks leaving with that performance. At a stage with all the turnovers late and all the easy plays the Pack were able to get, it seemed apparent to me that the guys on the field had indeed "checked out". They knew it was over, and it showed in their body language and their play. RE: Why did the fans leave? - =abrahamburger= - 01-16-2011 01:13 PM I started tailgating at 1pm and I live 4 blocks from the dome. I left at around 9 minutes left in the 4th quarter. I'm not ashamed at all. I paid my money. I supported the team all year, just like every year. I paid for our tickets. I was disappointed. And SeaMill is right, the Packers fans wanted them to pour it on. Visions of the Eagles/Vick game danced in my head. I wasn't cheering. I wasn't having a good time. Why stay? I've stayed with the team my entire life and will be back next year. If the Falcons wanted the fans to stay and cheer for them, they should have shown up for more than 16 minutes. I sat through the entire debacle of last year's home game against Philly when the dome was overtaken by Vick chants and cheers throughout the majority of the 4th quarter. I stayed to the bitter end because I support the Falcons, but it was not a pleasant experience. Had I been there last night, I also would have stayed to the end, but given the way the team played, I will not throw fellow fans under the bus for leaving early when it was clear that not only were we not going to win, but the team was not even going to seriously compete in the second half. RE: Why did the fans leave? - NCFalconfan - 01-16-2011 01:16 PM Every teams fans leave when an ass kicking like that is going down. Yes even Green Bay fans -I've even heard them shower their team with boos. RE: Why did the fans leave? - markdzul - 01-16-2011 01:19 PM Can't blame anybody as a falcon fan for leaving. I took my lumps at the bar in va. I just have nothing else to say right now.. |
