RE: This game was a bit of a bummer. - dmo_dlo - 12-28-2010 01:44 AM Huge credit to our defense. I think our D played even better than theirs. They played risky and pressured Brees all game and came up with two huge plays in the 4th quarter. The problem was that our offense could not sustain drives and our D played lots of snaps. So I can understand that they were tired at the end. Few things: - we got conservative with our blitzing as soon as we had the lead. - Obviously, we left many sacks on the field. If we do so with Brees what will we do with Vick? We have to teach the blitzing defender to anticipate QB's evasion or at least try to. - We should have trusted Matt more, both during the game and on that 4th down at the end. - We need to design runs for Turner to the outside. Unless the D respects the outside run, runs up the middle can be contained. Surprisingly, Turner's biggest runs have come to the side. - Brees' biggest play was not a throw, it was the tackle on Abe's interception. If he hadn't made that tackle the game would have been over. RE: This game was a bit of a bummer. - Swift Is a Die Hard - 12-28-2010 01:46 AM Peyton we are not talented we are sound but dont have top tier talent or play makers.. Harry Douglas has become non factor and I remember the day I said TD made his first mistake was taking Douglas over Manningham but its typical bull shit some guys dont fit our filter just like Dez Bryant .. this team wont win a chip if we dont sort of bend it or bring in some play makers.. Because the draft is an exact process and the Giants are doing so great even with Manningham making plays. Flawed teams have won the Super Bowl before. Regardless of the deficiencies, they only have to beat a terrible Panthers team then win two tough home games to get there. RE: This game was a bit of a bummer. - papachaz - 12-28-2010 01:51 AM i counted at least three times B Williams had his hands on Brees, only to not get the sack. Kroy had two, if i missed any, let me know. We played lights out on D tonight, no doubt about that. I'm not impressed once again with the offensive game plan. We needed more no huddle, we needed more two back sets with turner and snelling in at the same time. we should have been doing a roll out screen to the TE or Ovie on the goal line, but come on, Turners first fumble of the year comes in week 16? get off his back people, the holes weren't there for him, credit those guys defense, they're professionals too. Anyone who thought this was gonna be an easy game was deluded to start with. My biggest let down was it seemed once again we failed to make adjustments on offense. 7 points on offense at OUR HOUSE is ridiculous. Yeah there were some bad calls and no calls. the refs are what they are. We ARE in the playoffs, we will beat carolina next week, we will get a bye week and get to rest. To finish my comments, I hope Roddy doesn't do any more social networking until after we win the super bowl. We should have won this game, as was said in the chat room, the defense was GOOD, the offense shit the bed RE: This game was a bit of a bummer. - cooperbh - 12-28-2010 01:58 AM (12-28-2010 01:51 AM)chazmataz Wrote: i counted at least three times B Williams had his hands on Brees, only to not get the sack. I've counted about 35 times* B. Williams has blitzed the QB this season. I still haven't seen him sack anyone. * More or less

I was going to type some thoughts on the game in here, but you summed it up really well, so not much to add. I didn't disagree w/Smitty punting it away at the end, there. Got to give the Taints D credit, they probably would've stopped us on 4 and 6. And then scored again. All the smack talk and bravado was giving me an uneasy feeling all the way up to this game. Not even so much from Roddy and other Falcons, but posters on the board and stuff. Cause now I got to hear nanny-nanny-boo-boo from the trolls. Nah, we don't have to hear anything, we can just ban people. All you say to Saint trolls is "your team was the better team tonight, congratulations". There really isn't much smack talk to be made after that until the next time the teams meet, which maybe pretty soon. What flaws exactly? Serious question. Our offense was just ass. I didn't see any particular flaws exposed. Closest thing to exposing a flaw on D was the holes in the zone, which were already known. |
