Reasons off the top of my head the Saints should be nervous - BadMoonRising - 12-27-2010 09:10 AM
- In our last match up we were in their house.
- A 13 yard td was set up by a 70 yard punt return, we have a huge upgrade to our special teams after the first bucs encounter.
- The punt that deflected off DeCoud that Set up another Saint's TD with short yardage will not happen again.
- Our overall defense has improved since our last encounter, and I don't think we will see another 80 yard seem route in which DeCoud blows an assignement.
- Owens will not be covering Lance Moore in the slot.
- After the Eagles game we no longer continue the force the run up the middle in the first two quarters when it is not working, and we have opened up our offense a lot more as well.
- HD is showing progress the last few weeks, in the Saints game he had quite a few crucial drops.
- William Moore actually has more than one games experience going into this game.
- Jenkins is here to keep the coverage somewhat honest if they overload on White and Gonzo.
- Sam Baker is playing much better on Ryans blindside compared to last time we faced them.

They have improved as well.
Their defense is top ten.
They are scoring in bunches.
They are very hungry and playing for their playoff lives.
They are also free of key injuries.

Aren't they down a starting DB or 2 as well as a couple starting LB's? And isn't Ivory a likely scratch?
And the "top 10 defense" is ridiculously misleading.

Seatle = record: 6-8, passing: 16th, rushing: 31st, points scored: 19
Dallas = record: 5-9, passing: 4th, rushing: 22nd, points scored: 27
Cinci = record: 4-11, passing: 13th, rushing: 27th, points scored: 30
Rams = record: 6-8, passing: 21st, rushing: 20th, points scored: 13
N.O. losses:
Atlanta = record: 12-2, passing: 14th, rushing: 8th, points scored: 27
Arizona = record: 4-11, passing: 31st, rushing: 30th, points scored: 30
Cleveland = record: 5-10, passing: 30th, rushing: 18th, points scored: 30
Baltimore = record: 11-4, passing: 17th, rushing: 13th, points scored: 30
Oddly, NO has 5 games where they've given up over 24 points, Atlanta only has 2 games above 24. Yet NO has a 4th ranked overall defense while Atlanta is ranked 9th overall somehow, doesn't make any sense. Atlanta has also played 7 games vs. teams with winning records, NO has only played 4. Not to mention, they gave up 30 points to both Arizona & Cleveland for shit sakes, LOL.
Add to this, Atlanta has 369 total points to NO's 354. And NO has given up 270 points while Atlanta has only given up 261. Yet some how NO's offense & defense is ranked higher, again this makes no sense. We also have 10 more interceptions than they do while also giving up 10 fewer than them. We're +7 ahead of them in the turnover ratio too.
We've scored more, given up less, played a much harder schedule vs more winning teams with way better stat rankings. Ryan has 10 less interceptions than Brees, our O-line has given up less sacks, and oh yeah we beat them in their house.
They are Over-rated, period. We're better than them & they will not beat us in the Dome.

I can see you are terribly misinformed. All four of our starting DB's are healthy. CB's Porter and Greer, as well as SS Harper and FS Jenkins. FS Darren Sharper is healthy, too, and comes in on nickel packages with Jenkins moving to the nickel. Our LB's are all healthy, too. Clark, Shanle and Vilma.
As for Ivory, he practiced the last two days and Payton said he's looking like a go. As for being over-rated, this is a better team than last year's Super Bowl winning roster. If anything, the Saints have been over-looked this year.

-Dallas ranked 4th who scored 27 on them, but because Dallas has a 23rd ranked defense they gave up 30.
-Cinci ranked 13th who scored 30, but has a 19th ranked defense & gave up 34.

How many top 15 defenses have they faced?
4 (with 2 losses)
-SF ranked 15th, which was almost a loss. Win by 3, 25-22.
-Atlanta ranked 9th & this was a loss for NO of course.
-Pitt ranked 2nd, home win by 10, 20-10.
-Baltimore ranked 10th, which was a loss for NO by 6, 30-24.

Well it's not "misinformed", it's "I'm not scared of the Saints so I'm not following them at all."
The last time I didn't instantly change the channel as soon as I saw the fleur de homo symbol, they were saying a lot of those guys were injured and missing games, etc. But that was several weeks back. Sooooo, my bad.
And if you're better than last year, how did you lose to Arizona & Cleveland? You've even got an easier schedule.

Last year at this point you had 40 turnovers... 25 ints & 15 recovered fumbles that bounced your way.
This year you have 21 turnovers... 9 ints & 12 fumbles that have bounced your way. That's the biggest reason you're not better this year than last year.
Statistically, your schedule is easier this year than last. You are playing less teams with winning schedules, less teams with top 15 offenses and/or defenses, & the home/away games are more favorable this year as well.
You guys made bank on turnovers last year. This year you've got half as many turnovers while giving up over twice as many as last.
Sometimes the bounce of the ball really does matter.
And maybe your roster isn't as good as you think.

You'll see tonight. And, I'll guarantee you that the Saints are anything but nervous about the Falcons. As you stated yourself, you haven't watched the Saints play. Nor have you seen their opponents play against them. You know why it is so hard to repeat as champs? Because everyone plays their best game against you. They throw the entire playbook at you. The Saints are looking at following up a 13-3 year with a 12-4 year. Considering the weekly onslaught that is very impressive.
Oh, and by the way, I have Sunday Ticket and DVR and have seen every Falcon game, too.

I have a much bigger reason the Saints should be nervous. It was like hell froze over this morning when I turned on ESPN at 11am. Skip Bayless said the Falcons were going to destroy the Saints and sweep them for the season.
I think they should be scared because Grimes always does damage to them. But he has been playing like a top corner lately, that can only be good.
