Mark Of A Great Team - AUTiger7222 - 11-29-2010 03:24 PM

NFL games are going to be close most of the time. Blowouts don't happen much. So the great teams are the ones that find a way to consistency find a way to win those close games. Since 2008 the Falcons have played 20 regular season games decided by 7 points are less. They are 15-5 in those games. That is the mark of a great team.

What an amazing turn around this franchise has made.

Since 2008 the Falcons have played 30 games decided by 7 points or less and have posted a record of 20-10 in those games.

Since 2008 the Falcons are 24-10 in games decided by 7 points or less. Great teams find ways to win the close games. Bad teams find a way to lose the close games.

Yeah, our team has never been one to give up since the new regime arrived. Our FO, Smitty, and our vets have molded this franchise into something every fan can be proud of.

Yep and I am sure proud of this team!

I think the mark of a great team is not looking shitty against bottom tier competition, but that's just me. We can say "a W is a W" all day long, and indeed it is, but these last three wins have completely ruined my confidence in this team to take on the better teams in the league. Smitty has these guys playing down to competition in a big way, needs to figure out a way to right the ship. I know it sounds crazy when talking about a 6-0 team but unless changes are made we won't be competitive against the better teams in the league. As it stands now I think we would be lucky to win one of our next 3 games

I like to look at the glass as half full. There are very explainable reasons for why the Falcons have struggled the last 3 games. The Panthers game was a divisional game and they had 10 days to prepare. The Falcons offense played well in that game but the defense struggled. Against the Redskins that was a road game in bad weather. I've heard it said a million times that weather is a great equalizer of teams that have different talent levels. The Raiders had 2 weeks to get prepared for the Falcons and they improved a lot over the way they started the season. And Matt Ryan had a terrible game. All QBs have a terrible game every now and then. I like to say that despite all these issues and mistakes the Falcons have still been good enough to be 6-0. They didn't play the Giants on Sunday. So there is no reason to worry about how they match up with the Giants right now because they don't play the Giants until week 15 and a lot can change between now and then.

Good job, I hear ESPN is hiring, you've got it down pat, I think you've got a decent chance.
