Kind of upsetting thinking we could have had Dez Byrant - Swift Is a Die Hard - 11-15-2010 11:41 AM I remember making a thread over at AFMB who here would take a chance if Dez Byrant fell to us where we were at who would take and most agreed with me you dont pass on a talent like that . Then draft day comes along and he is sitting there and primed for the taking .. We had Harry Douglas coming off a knee injury a solid wr in Jenkins and a star in Roddy White.... I always thought TD was drafting bout the future and thinking LONG TERMS like eventually replacing Jenkins with a better talent at #2wr and moving Jenkins to #3wr a role played by Finneran . Right now Dez Bryant is tearing up the league ...It is for a shitty ass team but just imagine what it would have been to pair him and Roddy together .. We could have had something special...Yes we are a run team first but I saw the MATURITY OF OUR QB last week where he could put this team on his back and be a big time QB that can win games by himself with his passing game .. just imagine he had a weapon like Dez along with him ............ooofffffaa CHECK OUT SOME OF THE THREADS AND REPLIES link link 2 link 3 RE: Kind of upsetting thinking we could have had Dez Byrant - FullMetalFalcon23 - 11-15-2010 12:15 PM I hear what you're saying and yes I can see the validity in taking up a player who can be to the team in years to come what Roddy white is to the team now. But this isn't the last ever NFL draft, we can make adjustments. Our Offense is doing well with what we have, and yes having Dez I'm sure would hav introduced something new to it. However the FO rightly so went for Spoon, (imo) When he has been in he has really helped our Defense, even though that impact isn't sending shockwaves through the league, he made an impact for the roster. The other thing I would put to you is, yes Dez Bryant is talented, but each year talented players come out in the draft. I would think that our first round pick for the 2011 draft will be a receiver for the offense. Receiver depth tends to run through the rounds, and with the way things are going the team may not feel so desperate to get a replacement for Baker. We're fortunate that we aren't one of the teams kicking ourselves for not getting Matt Ryan, and whilst Dez is making more impact than Spoon this season, I don't think in the long term we are going to look back and say what if we had got Dez instead of Spoon with a feeling sickness for a completely wasted pick RE: Kind of upsetting thinking we could have had Dez Byrant - Peyton - 11-15-2010 12:18 PM I can hear ya and the dude is sick without a doubt, but Sean Weatherspoon looks to be one of the best players on the defense already, and you can see how much he is missed easily since he has been out. Plus, Bryant had a reputation for never being anywhere on time, which will make you drop. As much as I agree that the Falcons need another WR, I am not going to criticize TD for going the way he did. That first TD catch Bryant made yesterday was insane. RE: Kind of upsetting thinking we could have had Dez Byrant - Swift Is a Die Hard - 11-15-2010 12:27 PM Yea no remorse on Spoon I think he has played GREAT .. Im just stating we had a chance to draft a special talented player and we choose to go another direction ...Plus we had Nichalos to groom and yes LB and especially a coverage LB was a need but Dez Bryant is shinning ... Just the thought of him and Roddy for next 5 years with Matt ....wow RE: Kind of upsetting thinking we could have had Dez Byrant - FullMetalFalcon23 - 11-15-2010 12:29 PM I hope after the 2011 draft we will feel reinvigorated at WR for this O. Does anyone know about any of the guys we have n our PS and how they are doing? Just thinking next year White, Jenkins, Douglas, Meier, 2 x new receivers from a combination of draft, fa and ps. I would like it if we kept 6 receivers. but not sure it'll happen. Reallly hate the fact that Kerry got injured RE: Kind of upsetting thinking we could have had Dez Byrant - papachaz - 11-15-2010 12:44 PM didn't bryant have some off field character issues? i don't think he passed the 'filter' didn't his 'i didn't know rookies got hazed' thing in training camp prove he's just another diva? we're winning, and yeah i do think we could upgrade some of our positions, but i sure like that we've got what appears to be one of the best locker room chemistry teams in the league, and would hate to see someone come in with a bad attitude and ruin that. Kinda like Moss in Minnesota this season.... To his credit, he is one of the few Cowboys that has played hard all season. RE: Kind of upsetting thinking we could have had Dez Byrant - Paprika Neck - 11-15-2010 01:41 PM too bad kerry meier tore his knee up. RE: Kind of upsetting thinking we could have had Dez Byrant - Jesus - 11-15-2010 01:42 PM Yawn Dead argument. What if? What if? What if? What do want people to do or say? You are so right. We are so glad you bring this up every other day. You are the smartest fake wanna be armchair GM ever. I hope next April that Dimitroff calls you up and gives you the big chair at Flowery Branch so you can make all the choices. |
