Why Didn't We Go For 2? - Drathdon - 11-12-2010 08:40 PM Quick question I didn't want to get lost in another topic... Anyone else jumping up and down, wondering why we didn't go for 2 after we made it 19-7. I mean, sure we were up by 2 scores at the time, but going to 20-7 was not going to help us at all. It almost came back to bite us. I know we may not have made it, but 19-7 or 20-7 is essentially the same thing... both beat 1 TD and 1 FG, both lose to 2 TD. The possibility of getting 21-7 was worth the risk, since you essentially give up nothing. I can't be the only one who was concerned about that call at the time. I mean, always take points... but in the 4th quarter, this decision seems it would be the right one. Anyone have a different opinion? RE: Why Didn't We Go For 2? - The Falcon Jedi - 11-12-2010 08:52 PM Good question. We should have gone for 2 right there. RE: Why Didn't We Go For 2? - TankWorkman - 11-12-2010 09:10 PM Duh be me... It never occured to me. Must be some reason we didn't..maybe our crystal ball was cloudy? Good question. RE: Why Didn't We Go For 2? - NZFalcon - 11-12-2010 10:25 PM I never even realised.. wait that was the TD that I missed coz my stream was still on ads RE: Why Didn't We Go For 2? - kibitzer - 11-12-2010 10:28 PM Just a guess here, but quite possibly Smitty was just putting faith in his Defensive squad? I mean, they had been doing a pretty decent job up to that point. RE: Why Didn't We Go For 2? - phocis850 - 11-12-2010 10:38 PM I think that is a question that I have as well. Because if we didn't score on that last drive then we would have lost. A 2 point conversion would have given us a safety net of overtime. Only way missing out on that XP would have mattered is if they scored a TD and TWO FGs. That's 3 drives that the team would have given up. If it's 2 TDs (the way it was) then they would go for 2 and if they got it they would be up 3. Only thing I can think of is trying to maintain the ability to WIN with a FG if the latter situation(what actually happened) occured. RE: Why Didn't We Go For 2? - Jesus - 11-12-2010 11:28 PM We were too confident that they wouldn't comeback and take the lead. They needed two scores. Then they got them. Of course in the GA Dome a one point lead is never enough. RE: Why Didn't We Go For 2? - HolyDuckett! - 11-12-2010 11:39 PM I think there was still enough time where you just want the points. If the Ravens had been in a fourth and long when in field goal range, they could have opted for a field goal. Of course, without even the extra point, two figgies and a td beat us. But there IS a chart. And if the chart says go for two, then Smitty blew it and should be fired. NOW.
