Knowing one of those is Childress, who is the other? curious to see everyone's opinion I think he was implying the other would be the Patriots. Although, if he clears waivers, I could see him going back to the Pats. I'm sure EVERY coach on every team discusses any quality player who is available on the waiver wires as a matter of course. They'll look at what he offers, what he costs, what chemistry he brings to the team, what the team needs are, what the team scheme is. Our coaches are certainly discussing him ..... They'll ask questions like - Would he help us get where we are going? Would he be worth the chaos which may ensue? Would he "fit" in our offense? Is he a good blocker? One of the things about Falcon receivers - they MUST block. Will he open up our receiving game more than Jenkins, White, Douglas and Gonzalez are doing now? Will there be time for him to adjust to our protections, routes and offensive style? Then they'll make the best decision they can based on the answers they come up with in that meeting. However, we are pretty far down the waiver wire - SO even if they did all that AND determined he was a fit - there is still a very slim chance he slips down the waiver wire to where we sit. RE: Minnesota Releases Randy Moss.. what??? - kibitzer - 11-02-2010 12:04 PM According to the talking heads' article, Taints or Chiefs are most likely landing spot. I'm indifferent as to him becoming a Falcon, but if anything probably leaning towards "no". He just seems like a box o' chocolates now. We better hope the Taints or the Bucs don't end up w/him, though. The Falcons are one of the very few teams that I think probably won't discuss it at all. The Falcons owner has specifically told Moss "we're not interested" in the past, and I am sure all of the coaches and management knows that, so I doubt it is a conversation that even takes place. I thought it was before he went from Oakland to the Pats, but will defer to your memory. Will also vouch for the talk/controversy from fans wanting him here vs saying he was a bum. I was in the "whiny bum" camp, because he'd been a bum in Oakland. Then he went to the Pats, and ended up being a solid contributor. Lost the attitude, and kept his trap shut. Winning does that for Randy. You see what losing does for him. I still think he's a loose cannon. Helluva great FB player. High risk for any team who doesn't have a solid history of proper management and a winning record. Bad fit here, in other words. Or at minimum, perhaps "too soon"? LOL I am going to go ahead and nominate that as a potential candidate for "Understatement of the Year". Moss wanted to come to Atlanta when he left Minnesota. This was his exact quote regarding the situation: "So I did have dreams and high hopes of being traded to the Atlanta Falcons, but the president and owner of the Atlanta Falcons (Arthur Blank) told me specifically that he does not want me in Atlanta, there's nothing that I can do to Atlanta and he wished me the best of luck. He did not think that Randy Moss would be a good fit in Atlanta." Link Since that happened, 3 different teams have sent Moss on his way, so I am 100% certain that Blank's mindset on the matter would not have changed. |
