RE: Why did we lose? - phocis850 - 09-14-2010 11:21 AM curls/hooks/comebacks Those only work in the first half. Once enough photos are analyzed, the other team can see the play form in real-time. RE: Why did we lose? - JKH5785 - 09-14-2010 11:24 AM I saw Ray Lewis last night, come to the line, look over the offense and then turn and face the RT where the ball ended up going after it was hiked. I mean this is the NFL, and if you want to beat the good teams with good defenses, you have to realize that predictability can be a tremendous Achilles heel. We are very very predictable in our run sets, it's almost sickening to watch. RE: Why did we lose? - Knight of God - 09-14-2010 12:57 PM We lost because for some reason this team just won't evolve. Not player-wise, not coaching, not mentality. If you are going to go old school you have to do it and do it right. We just won't do it. The defense is also put together kinda sloppily I think. A lot of things that we do work in theory, but not overall. If your going to be a running team first and foremost, then you have to be able to run the ball obviously, and we should have mixed Snelling and Norwood in more. More slants and post patterns from RBs like Norwood out of the backfield. They actually needed to do something about it and didn't. RE: Why did we lose? - ChrisD - 09-14-2010 01:29 PM We lost because our defense broke in over time. That's the real reason we lost the game. However, looking at the big picture, I feel like our Falcons lost because of the offensive line. There was absolutely no push for the running game. Although the Steelers D is tough, and they have ridiculously good linebackers, there still should have been somewhat of a push to get Turner a hole. Also noticed that Turner was dancing around behind the LOS when he got the ball way too much. If you watch the Texans/Colts game, you saw Arian Foster run straight to the holes and punch through. He wasn't dancing around on his toes, he just saw the hole, and went for it. I think Mularky needs to take a note from the Texans offense from last season, and the first game this season. We aren't built too differently from them on offense, and really, we could have as potent an offense as they have. I'm not comparing, I'm just saying look at the similarities: Matt Ryan - Matt Schaub Andre Johnson - Roddy White (Both teams with sketchy, suspect #2 receivers) Tony Gonzalez - Owen Daniels Turner/Norwood - Foster/Slaton Also, our Offensive lines are very similar RE: Why did we lose? - Knight of God - 09-14-2010 01:57 PM (09-14-2010 01:00 PM)JKH5785 Wrote:(09-14-2010 12:57 PM)Knight of God Wrote: We lost because for some reason this team just won't evolve. I would Start Turner, then go to Snelling. Turner between the tackle and guard, Snelling between the guard and center. Play Norwood to the outside on a few tosses, screens, and a few things like that. Elementary. If you are going to be predictable at least use your players to THEIR strengths. You must be in my head, because this is exactly what i'm thinking as well. Turner is better runner when he can hit the comebacks or bounce it in b/t the T and G. Snelling is a beast up the middle Norwood can be a receiving threat from just about any position on the field, but mostly the backfield and motioning out of the backfield. And if we are going to run a screen, run a screen that pushes past the LOS, not one that has the receiver catching the ball 5-10 yds behind the LOS. The Saints and Eagles and other teams that run great screens do a good job at keeping everything in front of them. When the receiver gets the ball, he's already at the LOS. I'm thinking that and do SOMETHING to beef up the DT's man. Small 2gap DT's work best when they have a beastly big guy next to them. Ask Rod Coleman. It also helps your LB Corps. Ask Ray Lewis. Suga Ray is definitely able to beast it behind Haloti Ngata! Ray is always able to shoot the B and C gap because Ngata usually holds A down by himself. |
