The Supes and Hickry firing led to a problem here for me - phocis850 - 10-28-2010 12:13 AM We have had over 25 new people signup in the last 24 hours. Why is this a problem? We were like a family here. Just when you start getting used to your family members you have a litter of new offspring to try and figure out. This is a good problem to have for sure ![]() Welcome to AFT guys! ![]() I was also thinking that once we got around 500-1000 active (posting all the time) we would have a legitimate voice to the Falcons Organization. I'm not saying we don't now, but when you pull 1,000 fans together to make something happen that is a powerful thing. They say no to the hickry stick, let's give them something that can't say no to. We need to build our voice up. Go invite your friends if you wish. They will probably come in time with the next "upgrade" to the OMB. I personally feel like the fans have been disrespected by all this. Supes, feel free to have Falco flick the bird ![]() You've handled this situation extremely professionally. That shows your character throughout this. One day I might meet you and then I'll give you a handshake. Thanks for everything you've done for us fans. RISE UP FRONT OFFICE! RE: The Supes and Hickry firing led to a problem here for me - mdrake34 - 10-28-2010 12:30 AM Somebody needs to recruit Backnblack to come over here. I randomly clicked on the link to Capologists' board and saw BNB for the first time in a while, seems like he quit posting at AFMB like a year ago. It's a shame, he was one of my favorite posters. I'm still debating on posting my feelings on (namely how sick of hearing about it I am) the "supes saga." I have a feeling I would get negged. I'm sure one or two extra won't hurt. :/ RE: The Supes and Hickry firing led to a problem here for me - mdrake34 - 10-28-2010 12:40 AM (10-28-2010 12:32 AM)phocis850 Wrote: The entire fanbase was negged -10 points today. My point being, my lack of sympathy for the situation and disgust with everybody's reaction to it wouldn't be well received here (nor there), and I would be negged, labeled as a hater or a troll, and told to keep my opinion to myself (though it's ok to express your opinion of anger at what happened). So . . . yeah. RE: The Supes and Hickry firing led to a problem here for me - Dyoshot - 10-28-2010 12:42 AM You're right, I think higher membership here is the only way they listen. To justify the advertisers paying I would imagine high traffic and high membership is required. Less active members, less attractive to the advertisers. It's clear that the guys up top really don't care about how the fans feel and will not until it results in the loss of $$$. It's just the way it is. You're spot on where I'm concerned, except for the overly dramatic and violent reactions of the minor few. That said, it's not so much what you say, as how you say it. If you're "triggerman" at the other board, then you've already earned all the negs I had to hand out today, so don't worry about it. This is the first I've posted on all of this. I feel melodramatic even typing this.

I think everyone can get your point by what you're not saying anyway. I think everyone can get your point by what you're not saying anyway. Sound advice. I think what I found most surprising about this whole ordeal was that supes got paid by the falcons for his cartoons. I've been at AMFB for close to 10 years now, and I honestly had no idea he got paid. I never clicked on the cartoon threads though either. Dude is a good artist, but that's just not my thing. It's really cool that he is so well embraced by the fanbase and people dig his work though. RE: The Supes and Hickry firing led to a problem here for me - kibitzer - 10-28-2010 01:23 AM We don't need to continue the discussion, but I felt the need to make a clarification on your last post. If not for you, then for other readers. If I'm not mistaken, 8-9 of those yrs you mention seeing his toons (or at least "only the threads" as you say...) were unpaid. Only recently, I think perhaps the 2009 season, did they begin offering him some pocket change for his work. It was long overdue, IMO. We had something unique to our fanbase that just got crapped on. I don't mean Supes himself, necessarily, although you could easily make an argument for that as well. I mean having something meaningful and fun to look forward to every week, and the connection to the players that the HSA had given us. Anyway, not trying to change your mind on anything, I just wanted to make sure you understood about that first paragraph. |
