RE: Christopher Owens - evaluation - evo - 10-25-2010 07:26 PM Moore was in the position to tackle or catch up with shipley, but he took a bad angle then slip. Just rewatch the game, Owens, Grime and Williams tried not to give up the big plays so they gave TO and Ocho a big cushion from LOS. All TO and Ocho had to do was run and comeback/out route and our CBs would fall for that EVERY play. The difference is the Bengals got like 15 completions against Owens with no breakups and like 2 against Grimes with one breakup. He stayed waaay too far back. When the defense is sending 7, you are counting on the QB throwing the ball right away. Moore has to be up there to make that hit as soon as the ball is caught. Shipley didn't even run any kind of route. When the ball was snapped, he just casually trotted across the line of scrimmage and waited for the ball. Once he had it with Moore still 5 yards away from him, it was all over. RE: Christopher Owens - evaluation - zigg zagg - 10-25-2010 07:34 PM i dont think you guys are giving enough credit to cincys wr corps. shipley ocho owens gresham? thats far more talent than weve seen in our wrs since the late 90s owens at 36, washed up, and somewhat of a catalyst for turmoil, is light years ahead of any receiver we have not named white. even with his drops id take him over jenkins or douglas any day. The concerning thing to me was that it was just too easy. I mean.....Owens wasn't anywhere close to making a breakup all day long....the WRs were literally wide open every time they threw at him. RE: Christopher Owens - evaluation - I Am The Truth - 10-25-2010 07:58 PM I was one of the biggest Owens supporters before the season started, but dude play like hot garbage yesterday. Peyton is right, they came right at Owens all game...and Owens did nothing, at any time, to make Palmer reconsider or slow it down. I don't think Dunta is performing up to his contract, but let's just say I will be glad to have a healthy Dunta back after the bye. RE: Christopher Owens - evaluation - Chuck Norris - 10-25-2010 08:04 PM He didn't do too well. I don't know if he wasn't allowed to play tighter coverage, or if he feared the deep route that much.. but it seemed like they had at least 6 easy catches for 7 + yac. He missed a few tackles and even gave up on one. I hope he isn't discouraged after not starting, because this is not the Owens we were all so in love with at the end of last year. RE: Christopher Owens - evaluation - MikeV - 10-25-2010 08:07 PM I think Owens did a good job for the situatiion. They were targeting him. The defense was playing soft, both Corners were. They just targeted Owens because TO is so much bigger. I'm sure it was their game plan to target Robinson's replacement. I noticed Palmer was targeting Owens like he was a little bitch too. RE: Christopher Owens - evaluation - Peyton - 10-25-2010 08:19 PM Yeah, well, let's be fair. Chris Owens did lead the team in tackles with 10. That's known as the "Jason Webster Effect". |
