Explain Why Roddy isn't the Best WR Right Now, and I'll Tell You Why You are Wrong - Sporkdevil - 10-25-2010 09:57 AM
I posted this on TATF last night (sorry, meant to get it over here before now)
I don't usually get too homerish (no homer), but seriously, who is better than Roddy?
This is Roddy's 2nd 200+ yard game!
For perspective, here's the number of 200+ yard games from other players:
Calvin Johnson: 0
Larry Fitzgerald: 0
Andre Johnson: 1
Reggie Wayne: 0
Calvin Johnson has about 450 yards so far, and under 1,000 yards last year.
Fitz has about 300 yards on the year, and under 1100 last year.
Andre has almost 500 yards (wow, last 3 years is averaging just under 100 yards/game) and 1570 (OMG) yards last year.
Waynehas about 600 yards, and 1264 last year.
Roddy has almost 750 yards through 6 games, and about 1,150 yards last year.
Roddy has been consistently awesome, is leading all receivers by about 40 yards (2nd is Brandon Lloyd), while being 150 yards above Wayne, and about 200 more yards than Owens and Santana Moss.
If Roddy isn't the best WR in the league right now, he is a CLOSE 2nd to Andre Johnson. No one else has been as good or consistent. I'm even more impressed that Roddy has had such great hands this year. If he keeps up this pace, dude IS a hall of famer.

For this season only - there isn't a coherent argument that can be made that Roddy White hasn't been the best WR in the league.

Roddy is about to pass Lynn Swann in career yardage in 56 less games played. Now Lynn Swann may be the most undeserving HOF'er in Canton, but still that stat is extremely telling that The Hot Rod is something special.

Yep he and Andre are both about equal. The difference is that Andre is built for the long route.

Johnson is taller, but I think Roddy would be almost or equally as good if we ran him as consistently on deep routes like they do with Johnson.

I think it's interesting to look at their builds. Roddy is 3 inches shorter but they are the same weight. I always thought of Andre as a beastly strong WR, but Roddy should really be getting that type of respect now.

It might be time to start a legitimate debate as to whether Rowdy Roddy White is the greatest Falcon receiver of all time.
Not ever gonna take away anything from Terence Mathis, but Roddy has taken his game to the next level.
Roddy is no beast...dude is a monster.
