we're(at least im) jealous - TonyGraziani - 10-21-2010 03:28 AM I finally figured out why the loss to the Eagles hurt so much and made all of us so upset. Was it because it was Philly? Partially. But I hate the aints even worse and losing to them didn't hurt as much. Was it because we got beat down? A little. But we got bulldozed for 8 rushing TDs vs. KC and it didn't hurt as much. It came to me while reading thru some of the threads on here.... I'm jealous. We got beat at (what I wish to be) our own game. Add in some more running game and the Eagles have my favorite offensive scheme in the league. They also have done something that TD hasn't really, and that's draft weapons. They have had fewer holes to address and therefore could focus solely on those positions though. I have no doubt that Matt would be at his ultimate best with that scheme and weapons. I'm the type who doesn't think were going 16-0, but feels like were gonna win every game. I cannot understand any fan thinking "oh its a loss this week". That's hoeish IMO. But maybe the reason why we took this loss so hard is because it was like our HS rival doin donuts around us in a Ferrari while we sit it our Pinto that won't even crank half the time. I would guarantee that if we got beat down by getting ran on, or getting thrown on by a team with an bad scheme, we wouldn't have taken it so hard. But we got beat by the very scheme we(at least I) want. The Eagles have not been a dominant franchise, but I would love for us to take some pages out of their playbook, pun intended, and surround Matt with some gamebreakers. With that said, I understand logical thinking. I would guess that we will end up 11-5, 12-4 max. But ill be damned if I go into any game thinking anything other than that we will walk off that field with a W. You are just not a fan in your heart if you think anything different. JMHO. RE: we're(at least im) jealous - papachaz - 10-21-2010 09:01 AM plus one sir. you may have hit it right on the head. to sit and watch another team do to us what we should be doing to them, to see other coaches come up with what apparently is a great game plan, and players who actually execute that plan. wow, why can't we do that? RE: we're(at least im) jealous - Jen - 10-21-2010 09:09 AM Plus 1 to you. I think you hit the nail on the proverbial head. For reasons I cannot describe the Eagles have always felt like a big brother whom we have to test our skills against and it always seems that we get beat down and they are saying "you aren't ready yet". This year I was dying to beat the Saints and I really wanted to crush the Eagles... For all their "Glory" - how long has it been since they've won a Superbowl? All that flash is fool's gold - not the real thing. All the glitz and crap on the field without the Lombardi at the end means nothing unless you just don't understand the game and are a casual viewer who likes the spread offense type football with lots of flash. If I'm jealous - it's the Steelers or the Patriots, not the Iggles. If I was pissed - it wasn't jealousy - it is because they have the most classless coach in football - and I hate to see them win because of it. RE: we're(at least im) jealous - Goal Line D - 10-21-2010 11:48 AM As bad as that loss hurt inside NOTHING will compare to that beatdown the Pathers gave us in the Dome a few years back on Christmas I believe. They ran the same play what seemed like 40 times and we couldn't do a thing about it. That game absolutely made me sick for days!!! Just thought I'd throw that in for fodder. RE: we're(at least im) jealous - mdrake34 - 10-21-2010 01:12 PM We need to draft at least 2 explosive playmakers on offense this year. We will be a middle of the road to bottom of the barrel team without playmakers on offense. Roddy can't do it all himself. HD is still young, but he hasn't provided the spark to our offense that we thought he would. We need to do something. TD had his 3 years of drafting obscure back-up linemen. We need offense help now, on the line and at skill positions. That would be my dream scenario this off-season. By all accounts Mike Johnson had an awful training camp, and I don't know how excited I am about Hawley stepping in for McClure next year.
