Should we consider switching to a 3-4 next season? - The Falcon Jedi - 10-19-2010 04:45 PM Wade Phillips is as good as gone in Dallas after this season. When he was here as our D-Coordinator we had a very solid - and consistently good - defense. It actually made Keith Brooking a Pro-Bowl player. Abraham is pretty much done, so we need a new DE anyway to replace him. BVG isnt designing schemes to help these players over-achieve and play beyond their abilities. This defense is way too passive, they cant blitz worth a crap without telegraphing it to the whole world. It's time for a change. I think Jerry is more suited to be a 3-4 NT. Corey Peters looks like he would be more productive as a 3-4 DE, with Babineaux on the other side. Slide Bierman and Anderson back into OLB positions alongside Lofton and Weatherspoon. Mike Peterson is done, and Nicholas could serve as a backup. And then we draft a DL to help fill out the 3-4 line this draft. I dont think this is really a bad idea, and I think it would shake things up and work. Especially if we could get Wade Phillips in here as the DC. Now before you respond with the knee-jerk reactionary responses - think about it for a few minutes before posting. Kroy Bierman would be a perfect 3-4 OLB. RE: Should we consider switching to a 3-4 next season? - DaMeatTrough - 10-19-2010 04:48 PM How is Jerry a 3-4 NT? RE: Should we consider switching to a 3-4 next season? - Radical - 10-19-2010 04:48 PM God not this silly shit again. And he isnt exactly a "penetrating" type DLineman anyway. RE: Should we consider switching to a 3-4 next season? - The Falcon Jedi - 10-19-2010 04:51 PM If you take a moment to think about it, and think about moving the pieces that we have around into new positions, with a good D-Coordinator (like Phillips) then we have most of what we need already to make it work. RE: Should we consider switching to a 3-4 next season? - Radical - 10-19-2010 04:52 PM There is absolutely nothing about any of our DTs that say 3-4, nothing. Babineaux is one of the most prototypical 4-3 UTs in the NFL, Jerry and Peters are both a lot of like him as well. The only DT we have that is remotely meant to play 3-4 is Trey Lewis, who is 3rd string. No one and nothing about our D even looks remotely 3-4ish. That's up to interpretation. Have you actually "Seen" any of these guys play in a 3-4 scheme before? How do you know they cant do it? |
