The Falcons Are Very Much Alive. - RFlagg - 10-18-2010 08:38 AM Did we get beat badly by Philly? Yes, we got flat out embarrassed. We looked like a team that had no fire, no urgency, and no will to win. But we're 4-2. We are 2-2 against teams with winning records, both losses on the road. One in Pittsburgh and one in Philadelphia. We've already gone into New Orleans and Cleveland and taken care of business. Now we have a stretch of three home games and a bye over the next 4 weeks. We have 4 road games left, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Carolina and Seattle. All 4 are very winnable. Our toughest remaining games? Cincinnati, Baltimore, Green Bay and New Orleans, all in the Georgia Dome. And we're still 4-2. We've looked bad the last 3 weeks, beating San Fran and Cleveland in much closer contests than any expected. We have lacked any sense of urgency since the New Orleans game that many will remind us that we won on a fluke missed FG by NO (Because we all know kickers in the NFL never miss FGs inside 40 yards. It never happens). Yet we're still 4-2. The fact is, despite looking bad over the last 3 weeks, despite having to claw back into two games against bad teams, we've gone 2-1. We still have a chance to go into our bye week 5-2. Can I get a show of hands from everyone that said before the season started they'd be happy going into the bye at 5-2? I've got mine up. We're 4-2. We're tied for first in the NFC, hold the first two tie breakers over New Orleans for the division, and have yet to have our bye. We have 6 of our final 10 games at home. we have a relatively easy remaining road schedule. The sky is not falling. The Armageddon is not upon us. All our first born sons are still safe. There is no need for the hate that has filled these boards for the past 18+ hours. Ok, I'm done now. Someone say something about a dead horse. RE: The Falcons Are Very Much Alive. - bF™ - 10-18-2010 08:46 AM Great post. We'll be alright. RE: The Falcons Are Very Much Alive. - phocis850 - 10-18-2010 08:51 AM AZ was a blowout so that game really doesn't count. It helped out offense get over the pre-season slump though. The Saints game was our best played game. We were firing on all cylinders. The problem we had with that game was the red zone. We DO NOT score when we are in the red zone. RE: The Falcons Are Very Much Alive. - NorCal Falcon Fan - 10-18-2010 09:30 AM The red zone percentage is up from the beginning of the season. Ryan just needs the protection and the WR's need to work on their separation skills and not give up. I noticed yesterday they were stopping even while the play was still going. except for Jenks who really wanted to play yesterday. |
