Calvin Johnson's rule only applies to balls caught in the endzone not in the field of play, like the one in the Super Bowl.........

.......Also they said the attempt to stretch the ball over the line was the second football move meaning the first move, catching the ball, had been established

They just need to change the rule because it is a dumb rule. It's not really just an end zone rule either. This rule is been in place for 6 or 7 years at least, and I remember when I think it was Roddy White had a crucial catch taken away in that freezing Chicago game. It's a sucky rule, they need to fix it.

Yeah... I've always hated that rule.... and I remember that catch. Roddy caught the ball and was coming down with it... he hit the ground with the ball but the ball popped out. Incompletion.

It's too inconsistent with the way it's enforced.

The ground can't cause a fumble... except in the endzone... sometimes..

I don't know what else to call it. He clearly has possession even made a second move to keep the ball away from the defender.
I wonder if the fans would go for a throwback rules game

That call was simply wrong. That's why there is so much fuss. The NFL set standards for TD catches, then didn't follow them. Ed Hochuli took his medication and so should this ref.

By rule - that was incomplete and a bad call. The rule is pretty simple. IF - they go into the air to make a catch - which he did - then they must maintain possession all the way through the play - which he did not.

That 2 point conversion was no good - and got the call. Just a bad call by the officials.

The Calvin Johnson call was correct - he didn't get robbed.

If Johnson would have had the same situation on the 5 yard line he would have been down by contact. That rule is in place to eliminate the personal judgment by the refs. It just goes to show, catch the ball, keep the ball and don't let go until people are walking off the field
