the Kruger in the draft is the one I want...unfortunately he likely won't last to #30! We need high motor guys...who play a full 60....what i wouldn't give to have a young Kearny or young brooking (back when he was a good defender and not full of himself) and a diamond in the rough like a Jessie Tuggle......if we could add three pieces like that.....we could be HUGE!
and no I wouldn't pay big money for the other Kruger....we need to get younger as much as we can....We need to find those young high motor guys.....give a chance to some kids that may slip in the draft due to something else....(like the honey badger.....the guy has problems and needs guidance.....but truth is he can hit and cover and would have been a first rounder....now he is like a 5th to 6th rounder.....i have heard a lot of peeps don't think he can change.....we SOLID leadership which I believe we do have......we could benefit from taking a few chances.....
we also need to bring James Rodgers back and make him our slot receiver......like a wes welker......he is motivated....fast but not super fast...but he like Quizz never quits on a play.......he is a high quality guy that should be on the falcons roster.
No way we see Kruger. He'll get tagged if a deal doesn't get done. They're (Ravens) losing Ray and possibly Reed this year. They'll be scrambling to keep all their younger players. I think I read where they have ~15 mil in cap room. So, they'll have some space to work with.
Joe Flacco will get the tag before Kruger does.
Yeah, but do you really think they're gonna have to tag Flacco? He'll get a deal long before Kruger. Don't get me wrong, I think Kruger would do well here. I like to consider Kruger what we all hoped and envisioned out of Bierman (and a little more) but never got. So yea, I'd like to have him here.
Well the reports are that the Ravens and Flacco have been talking about a new deal since last summer and haven't made a whole lot of progress towards a new deal. The sticking point appears to be that Flacco wants to be paid off his postseason performance, which is as good as you can ask for the last couple of years, and the Ravens only want to pay him based on his regular season work which leaves a lot to be desired.
Maybe the Ravens are trying to pay him based on his actual post season performances instead of just the win.
What do you guys think about Paul Kruger? He's a free agent. Dannell Ellerbe is also a free agent for the Ravens. There's talk about the Ravens only being able to keep one of them. So if Kruger hits the market would you want the Falcons to pay big money to get him? I sure would. He would be another piece needed if the Falcons are indeed switching to a 3-4 base defense.
Kruger has gotten better every season he has been in the NFL. In just 15 games (6 starts) this season he had 42 tackles (30 solo), 9 sacks, 1 interception and 1 forced fumble and actually showed up in the playoffs. He had 2.5 sacks against the Broncos.
I would love for us to get Kruger, but his asking price may be way too steep. Ellerbe I'm glad hes done so, well, hes a free agent from UGA, he didn't get drafted. But I think were set at safty, but at linebacker, he might be a good fit, probably would be cheaper than Kruger Will be. ;)
Kruger posted regular season career-highs in tackles (42) and sacks (nine), and is reportedly seeking a contract in the $40 million range. His stock is on the rise after emerging on the national stage with a postseason flurry. Kruger graded out as a top-seven 3-4 outside linebacker in 2012 by Pro Football Focus.
Sounds like the same talk that boosted Ray Edwards too the second best Free agent DE a couple of seasons ago. Take away Ngata, Sugg, Reed, Ellerbe, and Ray lets see how good he is. I am a little weary of Ravens players because they're very well coached and scheme system specific. Visions of Ed Hartwell still torment me.
You do know that Reed, Suggs and Lewis all missed most of this season when Kruger had his best season right? Kruger isn't just a "product" of the Ravens defense. This kid can play and would easily be the best pass rusher on the team. Yes even better than Abe because Abe is DONE.
you just described half of our defense.

This and this reason alone will keep him from joining us....Though if TD could get him to accept something smaller.....it would be interesting....
It would be fun to bring in some of these guys and perhaps a few veterans that have maybe 2 years left in the tank (perhaps some just looking for the best opportunity to win a SB)....and see if we can strike hard this upcoming year and have some of these vets teach these younger guys.....
Could you imagine if we could get like 4-5 guys for peanuts because they want a championship....That would be a nice superbowl story!
Bart Scott, Adalius Thomas, Jamie Sharper, Ed Hartwell, all looked like beast in that organization. I could be wrong or it could be a trend. You are either the driver or just along for the ride.
The only one on that list that bombed after leaving the Ravens was Hartwell. The rest were still good players.
