The Ref, the blown call, the score
What REALLY needs to be investigated here is this!!!!!
The line in the game was an 8 to 9 point spread.
When the punt happened, we were down 6. EVERYBODY who put money on the Eagles is going to lose if the correct call were made on that punt.
Blow the call, give the ball to the Eagles, DEMORALIZE the Falcon’s D who just saw they opportunity to win the game taken from them, and the Eagles have a great shot at scoring and COVERING THE SPREAD.
Guess what happened. The Falcons gave up an easy TD because they were crowding the line trying to make tackles on the ball so that they could get the ball back that was taken from us, instead of playing sound D.
The ref, or someone in his family, is now relieved of his debt to some bookie or high stakes gambler.

No doubt a possibility, just not very likely. Irritating aspect of the call is that it is not a judgement call like roughing the QB, holding or pass interference. Every call has the potential of changing the outcome of a game, they just seem more important in the last minutes. This call was made because the ref thought/assumed that it was touched. He couldn’t possibly have seen it touched because it wasn’t or he made an incorrect call intentionally. Therefore it should have been a no call made scenario. At that point the eagles could have thrown the red flag and review it for accuracy.
October 26th, 2008 at 7:44 pmSo much of watching sports is that it is real drama, not acted . Watching great final second finishes is one of the main reasons too watch a game in the first place. That last 2 minutes of uncertainty and drama was stolen from everyone that WASTED their time watching that game..
