I know what your saying Joker. All I can say is, we won. I still think we've lucked out on 2 of these wins.

RE: ya know.. if not for 3 plays, we are 3-5 instead of 6-2
1. Missed Chip Shot
a. If that one play won the game - why didn't the game end then? b. after that missed chip shot - we executed 14 plays to get the fg, including a play on our own 10 yard line with 20 yards to go - where Ryan ran for 13 yards to make it 7 yards to go. This from our non-scrambling QB, plus we converted 2 3rd downs, had the first kick blocked - but nullified by a timeout from New Orleans, followed by a false start which backed us up 5 yards and then a kick for 46 yards by Bryant to seal the win. c. Before getting to overtime, we had 4 scoring drives consisting of 48 plays for 285 yards and ended in points which helped us get to overtime - INCLUDING a 3rd and 6 touchdown pass for 22 yards which brought us from behind in the 4th quarter. Drop by the receiver or bad pass - and that would likely have been a field goal. 2. Roddy vs. Pacman a. It wasn't Pacman and it wasn't Cincinnati - it was SF and Clements. b. We were still behind after Roddy made the play - why didn't the game end there? c. We had 1 minute and 22 seconds left and were on our own 10 yard line after that. d. We got to 3rd and 10 on our own 10 yard line - and were under heavy pressure - and Ryan gets a pass to Roddy for 13 yards and a 1st down with 1:06 left. e. We converted 2 3rd downs and it took 11 plays to get the ball down to the SF 25 yard line with 6 seconds left. f. Matt Bryant had to kick a 43 yard field goal to actually go ahead for the win. g. That great play by Roddy and that final kick wouldn't have mattered if Bryant had missed the 31 yarder in the 3rd quarter, if we hadn't completed the drive to get him there, if Ryan hadn't completed a pass to Harry Douglas on 3rd and 5 in the second quarter or if Harry Drops that pass. 3. Goal Line Stand a. There was 2:37 seconds left in the game after that 4th down - and we were ahead by 6 points. If we had let them score - and kick the extra point - they would have been ahead by 1 point and we would have had 2:37 seconds to get down the field for a field goal or touchdown. Either was a very real possibility. Not to mention that we had to get a 1st down in order to be able to go into the victory stance. b. If we hadn't scored 27 points which were the result of a multitude of plays prior to this - that stand would not have mattered. not have mattered anyway. c. On our scoring drives, we ran 54 plays converted 6 3rd downs + 2 4th downs and scored on either a touchdown which required a play by the RB, QB and WR/TE and the rest of theoffense (xp, TD) Bottom line - there is 60 minutes (and an additional 15 minutes in the case of a tie) full of plays not only by the offense as outlined above - but by the defense in the form of stops, turnovers and by special teams which get us to the position of winning at the end of the game. Unless you go into overtime 0-0 and return the ball on kickoff or punt or you end the game in regular time with that same situation - 1 play did not win the game. There were many plays which got you to that point - even a field goal for the win starts with a ST drive, a defensive victory or an offensive drive which consists of plays. Those plays were critical - they helped us get into a position to secure the win. Those plays did not win or lose the game for us. ![]()

If not for Brett Favre throwing the ball instead of tucking and running in the NFCCS Saints could not be the defending champs

Yes, and this wasnt a diss of the Falcons in any way.. people are so sensitive.. worryin about stupid shit like what ESPN says about us and crap... 2 of the 3 plays were heroic and great efforts,.. The missed FG was just plain luck.. (11-08-2010 02:03 PM)Tandy Wrote: 1. Missed Chip ShotDont get your panties in a wad. i was just stating a fact.. Sorry but Roddy chasing down Clements is not luck that was pure hustle. No other receiver in the NFL has done that let alone twice in two years, see Dre Bly and SF last year. Don't minimize one players accomplishments to make an empty point in order to bash the team.

Your thread title - ya know.. if not for 3 plays, we are 3-5 instead of 6-2 Which is total conjecture stated as a fact which dismisses the effort of the other 110+ plays by the defense and offense during the normal course of a game. If you can not take rebuttals or criticism of your opinion without having to start taking shots at other posters, I would suggest you not start a thread to begin with or do not go back into it to read the responses if you do. ![]()
