Weems is okay, but I wouldn't cry if he wasn't our return guy. I'm pretty disappointed in our Special Teams overall. I miss DeCamillis.

I just think we need to look into finding the next Dexter McCluster type hybrid player that will be dynamic in the return game.
MATT SZCZUR

CAA Football’s Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Matt Szczur can be described with one nickname - “Mr. Everything”. Last fall the senior helped lead Villanova to its first-ever football National Championship in 2010 after ranking as the only player in major college football to record touchdowns passing, rushing, receiving and returning a kick.
Villanova seniors Ben Ijalana and Matt Szczur have been selected to play in the 2011 Under Armour Senior Bowl, the university announced on Wednesday. The college all-star game will be held Jan. 29 in Mobile, Ala. Szczur, who has missed nearly three games with a high ankle sprain, was voted the Most Valuable Player in Villanova's 23-21 win over Montana in the 2009 FCS championship game. A potential NFL draft choice who is compared to Wes Welker of the New England Patriots, Szczur signed with the Chicago Cubs after being selected in the fifth round of the 2010 MLB Draft.

Sounds like a perfect TD type 4th-6th round pick.

Yeah, he does sound intriguing. How the hell do you pronounce his name?

On game days at kickoff will we be screaming "ZZZZZZZZZZUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!" ?

Yea, I'd like to see a change back there. Weems is not a threat to break a big return at all. I like him, but I'd rather us have someone with the potential to get us out to the 40 or further from time to time.

RE: who is satisfied with our return game?
I was thinking about this same thing during the game Sunday. I'm not satisfied but I really can't see making a change at this point. Weems isn't going to make a lot of big plays but there are some positives. He also rarely does anything negative to hurt the team, which itself, is a positive. I don't want to use Douglas because we need him on offense and Franks doesn't have the experience.

I don't know exactly. I can just imagine MBers trying to type it out.

RE: who is satisfied with our return game?
Weems does a good job fielding punts. He rarely makes huge errors and usually gets us positive yardage from the end of the kick. Sometimes he lets it bounce, and it costs us, but those are few and far between.

Kickoffs are a different story. I think Weems can do it but as we all know, our ST units have been pretty bad, all around, this season. Therefore, I am not sure if its a blocking/scheme thing or if Weems just doesnt have the speed and vision to field kickoffs and make more explosive plays.

I think we need a guy like Norwood (more durable of course) dealing with kickoffs. I dont think HD is that guy. It might be worth letting him field kickoffs again now that he is healthy, just to see if he can make an impact, though.

SD is the #1 team offensively and defensively but are 2-5 because of ST. The Cowboys and Vikings bright spots this year have been their return games. We might not have Devin Hester on our roster but somebody can be a threat back there. This, along with ST coverage, should be #1 on Smitty's "honey do" list during the bye
I personally wanna see what HD can do.... Not Harry Douglas. Hot Dog! Franks! Get it?
....
*crickets*
*cough*
Anyway, he was heralded for his return skills and showed nice burst on his int. You don't draft a return man and not let him return.
Weems is no threat.. Im not happy..

RE: who is satisfied with our return game?
I'm not too impressed, but opted to leave Weems back there simply because we don't have an expendable alternative (Franks needs more experience to boost confidence & I don't think we should risk HD) & Weems doesn't turn over the ball & rarily leaves us behind the 20. It's discouraging though that he is not at all a threat to score or consistently break big runs.

With the whole Norwood debacle, I'm pretty confident our 1st pick will be the top return guy on the board who can also play a change-of-pace RB and/or slot/screen receiver (Bush or McCluster type). After that #1 though, we may very well pick 3 straight offensive linemen.
