RE: rank the best Falcons QBs
So guys, where does Bart rank overall? What was his status in the league while he was playing? Who today was his playing style/status level equivalent to? Was he like Carson Palmer, #1 pick, nice QB but never top 10, etc. Or is that giving him too much/little credit?

Carson Palmer couldn't shine Barts shoes - Fact!

He was a big armed QB. I swear he could throw the ball a mile up and a mile down the field. He took us to the playoffs 3 times and he beat the Eagles in '78 then we lost to the Cowboys.

He got hit a lot. He made a lot of comeback drives at the end of the games.

Quite a few samples of his work in these 1980 team clips:

Also, Bart had back to back 30TD seasons, I don't know the exact number of QBs to accomplish that but I don't think there has been all that many

Thanks Tandy! I remember that team well. Bart was definitely "lord of the long ball"!!! Best deep thrower ever and he had good touch, too .

I love the Falcons and to hell with anyone who doesn't!

Yep, and people have to remember- we had a couple of DYNASTY teams in our division - the Rams and the 49ers.

Not to mention we played the Cowboys every freakin' playoff run - THE Cowboys.

He wasn't perfect - no QB is - but he was fun to watch.

Remember that commercial with Vick - where he threw the football and it went out of the stadium? (loved that)

Watching Bart was like that. He would stand on one side of the field and the ball would go to the other.

He was king of the Hail Mary. I've seen him stand on one side of the field - at the 10 yard line and throw it nearly 90 yards across the field. I am not exaggerating this - I saw it.

Then there was the other thing - he not only had a cannon - he had touch. So many big armed QBs have the power - but not the finesse - he did.

Those are the things I remember most about him. He was fun to watch. When we had William Andrews running and the Alfreds and Bennett and a defense to die for.

I will never understand why those teams never made it to the SB. We had some really, really good teams.

RE: rank the best Falcons QBs
That Vick commercial was a fake. There is a true story, though of Brett Favre, with his pants up, throwing a ball into the upper deck of the old Fulton County stadium on a bet.
