If you want a reality check as to how good we have it now, take a look at this link to see the quarterbacks of the past. Take a look at those records!

All that link did was tell me how mediocre Vick was during his tenure as a passer and the administration let him get away with it.

I know, Scott Campbell,Hugh Millen, Steve Dils,Gilbert Renfroe, briefly Eric Kramer, Scott Hunter,Billy Joe Tolliver. Going to those games and hoping they could compete against Joe Montana etc.

He also had a ridiculously good hard count. I remember when he was the backup for the Bears, they ran him in on a 4th and goal formation. The announcers were going "well, this is just ridiculous. They are going to go for it on 4th and pull Jim Miller for Chandler? What are they thinking?"

I was sitting on the couch saying "they're trying to draw them offsides, dumbasses."

Sure enough, Chandler goes in with a bunch of motion and a ridiculous hard count. To their credit, whoever they were playing (I forgot) didn't bite on it and they called TO and kicked the FG.

RE: rank the best Falcons QBs
A couple of significant things to remember about just how good Bartkowski was, take this into account when looking at his numbers...

He played in an era where the defense was allowed to, well, play defense. None of the tilted rules they have now.

No free agency, you want talent you better draft well (we routinely did not).

Ownership that was piss poor and literally the joke of the league.

If Bart was part of a good organization he would have ended up in the HOF. Honestly it's amazing what he was able to do despite us spending his first few years trying to put him in a wheelchair.

I also find it interesting that this was the only era where we had any sort of consistent success. It's the only time in our history where we've made the playoffs 3 out of 5 years, and what did the geniuses do, fire the coach for hitting a 'plateau'. This is precisely what ushered in the abysmal 80s. Dan Henning, Marion Campbell taking the job a 2nd time as a favor to the team because no one else would take the job. Yeah, good times Big Grin

This is the best era of Falcons football. We have the ownership, GM and coach coupled with talent on both sides of the football. Unlike poor old Bartkowski's teams we have the ingredients for long term success.

Yeah, I wasn't including now because that's still playing out. Besides, I measure consistent success over a 4-5 year period not just 2 which is where we are at now.

But that's just a technicality, I believe that we are finally as an organization on the cusp of greatness, honestly I can see us being competitive for quite a while. Unless we get hit by injuries like last year I'm extremely confident we are a playoff team this year and for years to come.
