falcons interested in osi at the right price

Osi Umenyiora (DL) - New York Giants (Tue, Aug 2 - 11:09pm ET) A league sources tells the Baltimore Sun that the asking price for Giants DE Osi Umeyiora has dropped to a second-round pick. The same source confirms that five teams are in the hunt, including the Ravens and Patriots. Several members of the Ravens front office are urging GM Ozzie Newsome to pull the trigger, but he's reportedly concerned about Umenyiora's history of hip and knee injuries. Newsome also has salary cap issues to consider with Ray Rice and Joe Flacco in line for extensions. Signing Haloti Ngata to a long-term deal would helping free up space, lowering his 2011 salary. NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora adds the Falcons to the list of teams interested in Umenyiora at the right price.

Kind of doubt we get him but you never know with all the crazy shakeups this offseason.

Even if we cant get Osi i think TD is playing mind games with other GMs. As more teams are interested in Osi, his price will go up, and who ever end up winning him (which most likely will not be us) will get him at a ridiculously overprice contract.

Per say the Panthers, when Charles Johnson were still a FA, we were heavily interested in him, that makes the Panthers front office jack up his contract's price because they knew they couldnt afford watching him eat up Cam Newton twice a year... So at the end they give him that 72 millions dollar contract, while we get Ray Edward for half of that price 30 million.

Well done TD. You did a pretty good job fucking up the Panthers's cap in the next few years... haha

I doubt that we get Osi, but assumming we did get him, where would he play, I mean, who would he split time with? I just don't know how he would fit in, but i would like to see them give a shot.

It was either Ray or Osi made a statement a while back about limiting thier snaps. They felt that in order to be effective, that they needed all three downs. That said, our line could be potentially the best in football with that combination. We would be relentless with great depth at the DE position. I actually think that Osi is better overall player than Edwards.

Osi is officially off the trade block. Seems nobody wanted to pony up a second rounder and top five money for an aging, disgruntled, injury-prone mediocre DE. Go figure.
