He has sneaky speed and good height. The hate for Jenkins is so unwarranted just because he does nothing flashy. People need to stop with it. He's a perfect complement for the team we have.

Jenkins has ALOT of deep speed.. he does alot for this team.. i am surprised there are people that dont like him.. its strange. |

If you want to flip flop Hines and Jenkins whatever do your thing, but if you try to deny Jenkins isn't top 3 in the league as a blocking WR you are crazy. His technique is perfect and his height adds to the leverage he gets over smaller DB's. All most people do is look at stats and then grade the player based off of that. They don't read between the lines or account for the little things a player does. Jenkins is one of those types of players. He does the little things that don't show up in the stat sheet.

RE: attention Jenkins haters
And Dunta Robinson is a great tackling CB.
Would you rather have a great coverage CB or a great tackling CB? For me? Coverage every time. I'd rather have a great receiving WR than a great blocking WR. Jenkins right now is average at receiving, which is acceptable compared to his play in 09 and 07. Maybe if he could find a way to put together a few more games like he did against the Eagles, I'll completely buy into the guy. Right now, he's better than last year, but he isn't ideal. |

Anyways man, why does it bug you so much that I don't feel as though he has played up to what I feel he CAN do? How do you know that I don't secretly want him to become one of the best all around #2 guys out there? I'm not one of those guys who go licking wounds man. I feel that the guy doesn't give his all on every play EXCEPT his blocking. I want him to fight for more balls just like the same problem with T.O. at times this causes interceptions that didn't have to happen. I'd hate if he were on another team because guess what? As a person I like him. I just think he needs to step up his game. 3-4 more games like the last one and I'll agree with you guys. BTW...the hater/homer nonsense has now completely gotten on my nerves. I left...I mean LEFT the other board because I have had enough of it. |

How do you know that I don't secretly want him to become one of the best all around #2 guys out there? I'll agree Jenkins doesn't challenge for some balls like he should. That INT Matt almost threw last game Jenkins should have challenged harder for that ball. Radical I would want a complete football player. Jenkins is more of a complete football player than a lot of WR's in the league. He knows his role and he does it extremely well. I'm just not sure what you guys expect from him??? 55 catches, 750 yards, and 3-5 TD's is completely fine for the guy. There is nothing wrong with those numbers. At the same time if Roddy went down I still think we would be fine. Like I said in another thread our offense scored 10 points with White off the field. We moved the ball in the air and on the ground. Jenkins is basically on pace for a 1,000 yard season based on averages (he won't get there because of his missed games). He also is a nice big target for Matt that also has the capability of going deep, especially when coverage is shifted towards Roddy. I am 100% pleased with Jenkins since he has been back. He is doing exactly what a #2 WR should do.

I think if a corner does his job in covering his receiver/zone, there will be no need to tackle as the play should be broken up. However, I do realize that catches will still happen so while coverage is great, tackling is not too far behind it. I'd rather have a great receiving WR than a great blocking WR This is all based on the offensive scheme. In an offense like the Saints, Colts, Packers, absolutely you want a WR who can catch, run routes, etc. In our offense, a receiver who can block on the outside giving our running game those extra couple of yards on a run to the outside is golden. Michael Jenkins will NEVER be a flashy receiver, but he will ALWAYS be a team player. I would rather have Jenkins on board with the team, than complaining because he isn't getting enough looks in the passing game. This team has great chemistry and it's because of unselfish players such as MJ12.

Quote:BTW...the hater/homer nonsense has now completely gotten on my nerves. I left...I mean LEFT the other board because I have had enough of it. I couldn't agree more. Every time I hear 'hater' I cringe. It's moronic. People who actually think that's hate need to experience the real thing so they can gain some perspective. People saying hater say it for one of two reasons. Either they don't have anything of substance to offer so they default to hyperbole, or they get their feelings hurt when they realize not everyone agrees with their pristine opinion so they lash out. So yeah I'd say it hit a nerve with me too ![]() (11-09-2010 03:18 PM)USAF HART Wrote: I'd rather have a great receiving WR than a great blocking WR I agree with this. While a WR block isn't going to make a difference on most plays, the times that it does can be the difference between 8 yards and 80, so it is very important in the context of the entire game. |
