Three men have pleaded guilty to stealing a newborn calf from a farm and beating the animal to death with shovels last year after a night of drinking at a New Orleans Saints party was soured by the team's disappointing loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Dwayne J. Jenkins, David J. LeBlanc, Jr. and Carnie B. Smith stole the 3-day-old calf from Red Bluff Farm near Folsom -- known for its petting zoo that caters to school children -- and dragged the animal to a nearby apartment complex on Louisiana 1078 where the Saints party had been held on Dec. 19.

In the apartment complex's parking lot, the intoxicated men took out their frustrations by beating the calf to death with shovels, according to authorities.
On Monday, Jenkins, 36, of Mandeville, and LeBlanc, 22, of Gibson, pleaded guilty to aggravated cruelty to animals and theft of livestock.
While LeBlanc's sentencing was postponed, state Judge Martin Coady sentenced Jenkins to five years of probation. Coady also ordered Jenkins to help pay restitution for the cost of the animal, although that cost has not yet been determined, according to the district attorney's office.
Last week, Smith, 29, of Covington, pleaded guilty to aggravated cruelty to animals and theft of livestock; he also received five years of probation and was ordered to pay restitution.

Christopher Murphy pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of misdemeanor theft, and was sentenced to two years of probation.
A fourth man, Christopher R. Murphy, 27, of Franklinton, did not participate in stealing or killing the animal, but he removed the calf's carcass, drove into the wilderness and dumped it, according to the district attorney's office. Murphy pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of misdemeanor theft, and Coady sentenced him to two years of probation.
St. Tammany Assistant District Attorney Harold Bartholomew prosecuted all four cases.
Red Bluff Farm's literature describes itself as an open-air classroom "combining hands-on activities along with educational information ... to help create vivid and meaningful memories of how the farm touches our lives each and every day in so many ways."
Attempts to reach someone at the farm were unsuccessful Tuesday.
St. Tammany sheriff's deputies received a call from the farm and came out the Sunday morning after the game, which the Saints lost 24-17 in the Superdome. Deputies found evidence that the calf had been dragged under the farm's fence and footprints led deputies to the apartment complex.
One of the residents said she had heard a cow mooing loudly that morning, apparently the mother looking for her newborn, authorities said.

They couldn't have been real Taint fans.....

There was no mention in the story that they had raped the calf before they killed it...

Seriously though, sick bastards.

I really hate anyone who harms a defenseless person or animal.

Hope all 3 of them die horrible deaths.....soon.

I love red meat, but I admittedly get a little sad seeing a load of Cattle headed to certain doom. Maybe mostly because of the inhumane methods being deployed, either way, I'm with you Gritz...I hate seeing a defenseless person or animal being harmed.

Perhaps in the good 'ol days, they owner of the calf would have been allowed to beat the shit out of the perps with shovel in return...

That is what the sick assholes deserve.

I would gladly man the shovel if the owner of the calf didn't want to do it.

"New Orleans Saints fans" and "classy" never belong in the same sentence.

I love the Falcons and to hell with anyone who doesn't!

Who cares about the Cowboys? Aren't they 1-4? That's like being concerned about the Rams... well... except the Rams are 3-3.

Well, one of them wore a "cowboy hat". That counts, right?

I love the Falcons and to hell with anyone who doesn't!
