Yet another reason I'm glad we have Ryan instead of Flacco (besides the unibrow)
Bit premature to be asking for an extension with his track record. When the time comes for Ryan, I fully expect him not to say a word.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6284461 Joe Flacco is under contract through the 2012 season but is already looking to the future and wishes the Baltimore Ravens shared his vision. Joe Flacco Flacco Flacco expressed his displeasure with not having a contract extension from the team when he spoke to The Baltimore Sun at a charity event Saturday. "I would feel that after three years, you can make a decision on whether you want me to be your future quarterback or whether you don't. It's your decision," Flacco told the Sun. "I wish and hope they would do what they want me to do, which is stay here. Obviously, I want to stay here no matter what. I would want them to do something as early as possible." In just three seasons in the NFL, Flacco is already the Ravens' all-time leader in passing yards, touchdown passes, completions and attempts. Flacco also set a team postseason record with a 115.4 quarterback rating in the team's first-round win over the Kansas City Chiefs. "I think I've established myself," Flacco said to the newspaper. "If you're not confident with who I am, I'm not sure what a year is going to make." AFC North blog Walker ESPN.com's James Walker writes about all things AFC North in his division blog. • Blog network: NFL Nation Though Flacco said he doesn't intend to "create any trouble" over his contract situation, he said he would prefer it if the matter were resolved sooner rather than later. "Ideally for me, I would like to do something as soon as possible because I feel like I deserve it," Flacco told the Sun. "If you don't feel like I'm going to be your quarterback for the next 10 years, what's one year going to make. I don't know what the deal is. We'll have to let this play out and see." |

He feels he should be making Ryan type money, and I think he should. Flacco has played comparatively just as well as Ryan in most every aspect

If Ryan had the Ravens D giving him an extra 6 points a game, he might have a ring by now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3CXS04cy...re=related |

Man, he already has all those records. That's crazy that he's already passed guys like Trent Dilfer, Kyle Boller, and Troy Smith.
Show him the money.

Your probably answer with well Flacco didnt take over a team that was in the gutter but thats just a excuse imo Just cause Ravens have a better defense then us doesnt mean the Ravens dont count on Flacco as much as we do Ryan . Ryan has a legit top 3 wr and a future HOF TE ..Ravens brought in a stud wr in Boldin got a solid TE and good running game. Flacco and Ravens use Rice more in the offensive passing attack and dump downs but we use Snelling. How many games can you actually say Ryan won strictly on his play alone Ravens game is probably only one that comes to mind when he out-dueled Flacco that game at home Flacco stats 3622 yards /25 tds /10 ints 7.4 YA Ryan stats 3705 yards /28 tds/9 ints 6.5 YA Matt Ryan contract -6 years 72 million (34 guaranteed ) Joe Flacco - 5 years 30 million Also you have pointed out that Flacco has lead his team to playoff wins while Ryan hasnt at this point ![]() I'm delusional from our playoff loss against GB . Don't take me seriously until year 2413 . - Added by Phocis because of this post. Warned here. Do not remove. |

I still think Ryan's best season was his rookie season, pre-Tony Gonzalez.

He still has 2 more years on his contract, so I would expect something to be done within about 12 months.
Ryan signed a 6 year contract, so we still have him for 3 years.

RE: Yet another reason I'm glad we have Ryan instead of Flacco (besides the unibrow)
Why is he talking about this now?
There is a lockout and he can't get an extension probably until after this season, if there is one... |
