I didn't want to say anything because I wasn't so sure, but I had though this too. I was screaming at my TV that his foot went out of bounds in real time, but then on replays it didn't seem like it. I gotta admit my memory of it now is he sort of swung his foot our of bounds but brought it back in before it made contact. Was extremely frustrating to watch us just throw away points like that. We went for the jugular when we should have realised they screwed up they are under pressure let them make the mistake and run into one of us. Instead the unit just saw the fumble and lost all discipline it was like they were sharks and Spurlock had bled in the water, except none of them successfully used the killer instinct to finish him off |

But it would be more accurate to say the Falcons only defeated the Bucs by a single yard.
That's assuming that with more than two minutes left, on home turf, three time outs and facing a defense which had been on the field about ten minutes more than ours, the Falcons would have been unable to go down field for a game winning field goal. They also scored all three of their touchdowns with two or more tight ends in the game.Since TE Peele was injured, the Falcons other TE is Michael Palmer, an undrafted rookie FA. I've been real impressed with Palmer's play thus far. He runs good routes and has good hands. He had two catches yesterday, one for a first down and one for a Touchdown. I wasn't sure about Palmer's blocking ability, but evidently he must be pretty good at blocking also based upon the interesting Yasinskas' stats above. It will be interesting to see if Atlanta employs more two TE sets in the future utilizing Palmer more. theProf |

I wonder if we need to pick up a fourth TE until Peele gets health? HolyDuckett: The immaculately conceived gay-love-child of HolyMoses and duckettplease. When Palmer got his touchdown, did you notice that the Tony G was the first guy there. Just judging from what I have seen on the field I feel like Tony has taken Palmer (and possibly Peele) under his wing. And lets be honest who would you rather have setting an example for young tight ends?

RE: Yasinskas articles on Falcons/Bucs game
Quote:Atlanta’s secondary gave up touchdown passes from second-year quarterback Josh Freeman to rookie receivers Mike Williams and Arrelious Benn, and the special teams were dismal for much of the day. Actually only 1 touchdown could be attributed to the secondary, and it was because of a very bad angle taken by Robinson not indicative of overall poor secondary play. The other touchdown Nicholas was covering, so a scheme / matchup problem sure, but it wasn't the secondary. Don't get me wrong, we can be much better, there is plenty that needs fixing, I just get tired of Yasinskassshat and his melodrama. I'm sure if we had lost the game yesterday he would've written about the epic beatdown the Falcons took at the hands of the super bowl bound Bucs. A demoralizing loss with such a profound ripple effect that the franchise may never recover. They might as well just rehire Petrino and start over. The sad thing is that this isn't all that far from the truth, I'm sure his girlfriend is the man of the house in more ways than one. |
