Mark Sanchez has stepped his game up this year in the playoffs. Did you not see the Jets defense missing tackles left and right and the Jets getting dumb penalties? Mark Sanchez outplayed Ben Roethlisberger (sp) last night. The 1st half was the Jets undoing, you can't go down 24-0.

I know that most people don't like Mark Sanchez or the Jets for whatever reason but come on dude. He wasn't the reason why they lost this game. But if that's what you want to believe then so be it.

I don't think the hype that Sanchez gets is warranted, I think that somewhat irks fans on this board, as sometimes it seems he gets more respect than Matt does and being
very honest he has not performed with the consistency Matt has. But that is due to media market he plays in and the nature of the team as well.

He is a decent player but right now for me he is still not cutting it up enough to warrant the hysteria. His INT's need to come down, you can't have a QB doing that. But he is coming along.

EDIT: I just checked and in 2 seasons he has thrown 33 INT's and 29 TD's having started all but 1 game
Matt has thrown in 3 seasons 34INT's and 66TD's having started 46 contests

I know Sanchez has certainly had more post season favour than Matt, but he has not done it alone. You look at these things and although I think you cannot fully evaluate someone by statistics alone, you see a person who needs to start putting in some real work, especially for the price he was paid. I think another mediocre year from him and you seriously have to look at what you have as supposed to what you want from the QB. The game is not being put in his hands and his hands alone just yet, and he seems not to be as careful with it as you would like your QB to be. He isn't going to be able to develop unless he starts doing those basic things better and bringing those turnover numbers down. All of this being said, I think Matt was a more advanced QB than Sanchez coming out. I think the draft elevated where Sanchez was picked based on demand. So in that respect you'd hope that the Jets organisation would be aware that they are going to need to give him more development time as his learning curve is definitely proving to be steeper than where he was selected. This is a criticism I also have regarding the Matt Stafford situation although part of the complication there is the FO is not protecting their investment, if they don't get a decent OL in to sure up his protection he is going to go down again. I feel as though Josh Freeman is the only QB in that draft group who has shown the caliber and consistency one may expect first round QB's in this era, having watched him the season before he was drafted I felt the success he personally has had in his development was certain.
