RE: Why does ESPN allow this garbage?
What percentage of the nfl is black?
She focuses on one position and 3 black qbs that have been benched. Oh hey Edwards Moore/Clausen Hall/Anderson Kolb and for a black qb. Smith and Carr for a black qb. Give me a break. And lol at "After Jamarcus Russell, another black qb"... or another shitty, fat and immature flop. "Yes Young is immature and injured and got arrested but...." aha what side are you on lady? What about white rbs? Actually no, what about who cares? There is only one race-The human race.

RE: Why does ESPN allow this garbage?
Hanging your race hat on Jason Campbell and Vince Young is about as stupid as it gets. Both guys stink. McNabb has been decent over his career but when he is bad, he completely sucks. Then to compare any of these guys to Manning is a hideous injustice to Peyton's abilities.
My favorite part is blaming Jeff Fisher for Young's off the field issues. That's just ridiculous. Taking the stats she used, the only thing I read in this article is "4 out of 5 black starting NFL quarterbacks stink and will be demoted." |

RE: Why does ESPN allow this garbage?
The thing I hate the most is it makes Black people look stupid to those who actually are racist/racially biased. I hate the term "race card", but there are certain times where race comes into play(which times those are I will keep to myself at this point). But this is definitely not one of those times. This is just flat out stupid.

RE: Why does ESPN allow this garbage?
Yeah, this is weak. I strongly disagree with McNabb's benching both times(in Philly in 08, and this year). His OL did him no favors. But every other case is just plain maturity. I don't see much difference in Russell and Leinart. I think it has way more to do with a culture that fosters sense of entitlement and praise, than race.

RE: Why does ESPN allow this garbage?
I will never forget when Ron Parker on 1st and 10 said there won't be another Larry Bird (great white american basketball player) in the NBA because white kids are too busy playing hacky sack. I personally found that very racist but they just laughed it off

RE: Why does ESPN allow this garbage?
I gotta be honest I couldn't bring myself to read this article. As young black male that has come from a mixed background living amongst people in my country who are poor but growing up in an elitist middle and upper class school I have had the benefit of being able to soak up a lot in racial perspective.
Chris Rock said, the thing that gets him madder than racism, is the person who is surprised by racism like they don't know it exists. I would like to add to this that what gets me madder is a person who looks for racism and creates it thinking they are being an advocate for their race. When in actual fact in the act they are just creating more racism, and for the black humans, in particular those in America it perpetuates an already existent myth that without help or different rules being applied African Americans can not function in parity with their hegemonic counterparts. Articles like this really offend me. Instead of seizing this as an opportunity for a critique of these athletes and opinions on how they must aspire to make themselves better role models both on the field and off the field, in order to inspire new generations of athletes and to promote the need for a more professional and workman like attitude. They instead look to point the blame everywhere else than at the feet of those who are creating their own demise (The only exception in this in my opinion is McNabb who is currently having one of his worst seasons in recent history in an otherwise exemplary career. People like this author need to Rise up. |

RE: Why does ESPN allow this garbage?
ESPN allows this stuff because it gets attention, it gets read, and it gets commented on, and they love it when they get copied and pasted to team message boards. it's all about getting the attention for them, they're a news outlet albeit sports news, so anything they can put in that is even the slightest bit controversial gets more attention than boring, ho hum stuff. it's what they do.
the best thing to do is just ignore it. kinda why i didn't read the article even when you made it so easy by posting it. it just doesn't interest me. i'm not a racist, even tho I know lots of people are (all races contain racists). yeah i know racism exists, and all i can do about it is just not be racist myself. i taught my kids who are now grown not to be racists, and hope they pass it to their kids. but i don't read articles written by racists who complain about other races racists. Chew on THAT, Petunia!
