Why did we lose?
What's your opinion?

I personally believe that Mularkey is too conservative and the players really don't like the system they are playing in.

We lost because our offense completely sucked.

Nobody could disagree with that statement.
We need a change at the top to fix this issue.

You can tell the players don't respect the play calling.

RE: Why did we lose?
It's amazing that the offense gets anything done.

I was thinking about it earlier. The offense doesn't run any fly patters, or screens, or slants, or deep crosses, or shallow crosses.

The entire passing offense is out patterns and hooks, and the occasional skinny post.

It's not sustainable.

RE: Why did we lose?
the play calling was predictable as ever.... Roddy can't do it alone, neither can Gonzo....Matt missed many other open receivers.....

With exception of the last play, our D played well.....not sure if Babs would have made a diff yesterday..... was good to see Biermann and Abe get the Sacks...those were very timely as well.

2 years ago, we won a game with only 9 seconds left...yesterday, we made no attempt at it with even more time on the clock...

Why?

Bad coaching and play calling.

RE: Why did we lose?
One would have to assume that Smitty is all over Mularkey's ass about the play calling right now. Everyone could see it was unacceptable.

I wonder if it was sabotage? I mean, I saw only 6-7 different offensive plays. No OC would only call 6 different plays.

RE: Why did we lose?
No particular order...

1. Couldn't establish the run, was really bad from our offensive line.

2. Missed FG early

3. Early incompletions in the passing game led to stalled drives

4. Lack of another reliable receiving target besides White(Gonzo was locked down, especially when Troy stuck to him).

5. Defense gave up some big passes in the second half.

6. Couldn't force more turnovers against a rookie QB.

7. Late interception at a key moment.

8. Terrible string of penalties at the worst time possible.

9. Multiple dropped interceptions.

10. Defense broke in a big way after being pretty good all day.

RE: Why did we lose?
I would add, that our Center can't handle a 3-4 NT.

Needed more penetration from our DTs earlier.

I put 80% on Mularkey.

Pauli Pauli Pauli!!! Welcome!

I agree with all that you said. I'm excited to see our pass rush with arguably one of the best 4-3 DTs in the NFC return (JB95)

I think Mularkey's scheme and play designs are making it hard for our players to execute efficiently.
The players are too blame for some of the issues for sure, but I believe the root of all evil on the offense is berthed through Mularkey

RE: Why did we lose?
other than what's already been said...

No guts to try to convert 4th and 1

Norwood didn't get enough touches

Missed FG (although Heinz field is tough to kick and and he did hit 3 of 4)
