What annoys me about the board is that common sense moderation is out the window. Some one can sit there and flame bait for years(ahem, gazoo and swifty), and generally just be outright douchenozzles, but for some others it simply takes one off key remark to get you turbo-banned. There is very little communication that goes on between them and the rest of the community. Fuckwits like Vick75 can literally post for years on end(Mr. Right at the moment), but they're never dealt with.

It comes across as the mods are just disconnected from the board. Some are rarely on, have a buddy buddy relationship with some people who are real asshats, and others just seem like they sit above it all and never come down to "our" level.

PF is/was an epic failure. Why put split the community when you can just deal with the trash in the board EVERYONE goes to.

I agree with most of what you said. See, the problem at the AFMB with the moderators is that they set them years ago when all those guys were really active on the forums, and they never change them. Or added any. So you ended up with a situation where the admins stopped participating as much and became disconnected with it, but there were no additional mods added to fill the gaps.

As many know I used to contribute a lot of graphics work (avatars, sigs, desktop backgrounds, the Trollology Guide, etc) to the old board a few years ago then was mysteriously banned for 6 months by Shiney McDumbass.

I swore I would never contribute anything to that board again and to that I stayed true and always will.

I designed and helped moderate another Falcons MB (The Falcon Loyal) for quite some time until I simply had no time to devote to it anymore due to various reasons.

I was very pleasantly surprised to see that this MB was a legitimate alternative on my first visit so much so I created an account and decided to post.

Admittedly I'm still trying to figure out why an asthetic change to the official MB was the final straw when that MB has not only been devoid of all substance for years now but overrun by twits (some of which are moderating).

I hope this MB has long-term viability. My own attempt at a fan-based MB may have been years too early.

It was just a perfect storm really. Them taking away 35% of the screen over there was very aggravating, and then on Sunday, the board was down all day.

Either way, I am glad we did it, because this site is truly going to be responsive to user input.

The thing I hated most for the short time I was there, was the fact that there was no moderation at all. Trolls could do/say as they please, but one Falcons fan says something and BOOM they are gone. It really didn't feel like a Falcons message board with how many trolls and crap were on there. You could never voice YOUR opinion, without fear of getting negged, which I thought was stupid! Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Granted some peoples opinions are so off the wall stupid that you just have to neg them, but it sucked for those that voiced their difference in opinion and had Valuable evidence to back their opinion, but still got negged.

I hated the politics and how no matter what your take was, it would take you one time to step out of line to get your ass banned/suspended, although we were just supposed to put up with punks who come there for no other reason than to stir the pot, with no real discussion in mind, other than to inflame the falcons faithful.

Which brings me to the point about the reputation system there. Why even have this feature if your mods are not going to run daily reports and suspend/ban people who fall under certain thresholds. There was no, nada rules about posting threads when you are a new member, so even if the mods (rarely) got it right and banned a troll, he could just create a new account and post a new thread. It was laughable.

Oh yes, let's not forget the skinny boards. Whose idea was it to ruin the look of things, just to put in pointless ads that no one clicks on, unless by mistake?

I hate to admit, because I actually read the boards everyday, but now I go over to the AFMB, spend two minutes reading threads, and if nothing catches my eye, I focus time on this one. At one time, those boards were shiny and new and the mods had ideas of keeping things civil and making a fun place for NFL fans, mostly Falcons fans, to chat, and it denegrated into it's current form. For the love of the Falcons, the city of Atlanta, and even Arthur Blank, let's keep this one popping, and do it right this time.

BTW there's a lot of stuff in that that won't make sense to anyone that hasn't been a Falcon MB member for at least a few years.
