RE: What's your earliest Falcon memory?
I think it was Christmas eve 1991. Herbert threw a touchdown pass to Terrence Mathis with little time left to win against the 9ers.
Drink til she's pretty, stop before the wedding! |

RE: What's your earliest Falcon memory?
Heres me showing my age, watching the Cowboys and Falcons in 80 in the playoffs. Game SUCKED.
Was funny back then, showed HOW LITTLE the Smiths put their money behind the team, me and my sister went in her 1971 Firebird to a meet the team function on Chamblee Dunwoody and 285. It was Mike Kenn and Jeff Van Note, it was just them, no radio people hanging out, just nothing. Shaked their hands got a autograph and hauled ass, but back then, the Smiths were total buffoons on how to run a team, why Dan Reeves took the Broncos over us, when he was looking for a job, he said the workout room was underneath of the Old Fulton County stadium and it was on a dirt floor. THats SAD.

Yep, and that's exactly why any "Same Old Falcons" talk or comparisons between the smith owned Falcons and Blank owned Falcons are simply ridiculous.

RE: What's your earliest Falcon memory?
I remember when I was in the 6th grade, 1994. I went to school with a ton of kids from NY in Dekalb Co. Also, the GA kids rooted for all the NY teams as well because outside of the Braves who were just getting good, other Atlanta teams pretty much sucked. I got so frustrated with the Falcons not winning that I went and made the stupidest move ever, I told my uncle I was going to root for another team (Probably the Giants or Cowboys). When I told him that, he said, "Fine. Go ahead, I'll even buy you a jersey. Just so you will have a souvenir to remember the day you became a worthless a** quitter. So later in life when you inevitably quit anything that is hard or doesn't give you an instant return, you'll remember how it started. So go Giants and go QUITTERS!" He then slapped me in the head and pointed for me to get out of his garage. I apologized right after he said that and now I HATE ANY NY team. Even in sports I don't watch. I never had a dad but my uncle was more of a father than anyone could ask for. So thankful he talked me out of that foolishness!

(02-04-2011 04:44 PM)Dyoshot Wrote: My uncle got me into the Falcons when I was young, really young. He says the first game we watched together was when Scott Campbell led the Falcons to a comeback victory over the eventual SB champion Redskins in 1987. I can only remember bits and pieces of that though, I was only four. I was at that game. Good times. Deion capped it with a pick 6. My earliest memory is Big Ben against New Orleans in 78. |
